first of all, I gotta say, the game really plays, responsive controls and I like how you're doing something new with the flappy bird concept
I think there does need to be a clearer indication that we've died after touching the shapes e.g. a game over or something flashing red
also my highest score is 1 :)
I really loved the ending to this, it just really turned my expectations of this game on it's head. It made the first half of the game feel particularly surreal too.
Well done for putting out your game and being open to criticism. I know how nerve wracking that can be, especially when the game doesn't feel 'ready'. I hope this feedback helps.
The movement controls felt responsive and I liked that I could move the screen slightly up or down with the up/down arrow keys.
The "Z" key froze my game every time I tried to interact with the NPC
(I don't like breaking a game… unintentionally)
I didn't need to use any of my tools, nor was there any incentive to learn HOW to do it. Also, the tool menu doesn't give any visual cue's telling us which tools/items we have or don't have.
Personally, I'd prefer to hold down the jump button to stay afloat instead of mashing it, especially if there's going to be extended water areas later on. that could just be me though.
Finally, I appreciated the frequent checkpoints that minimised backtracking
Good luck :)
Thanks for feedback! Impulse increases your speed in the direction you are moving. you have to hold any direction key to works.
