I remember when Siren was narc and dio, and you could actually log in and play.
Seriously, what's the point of announcing new updates and a new expansion before you've got the servers up and running again?
Congrats on wiping a game that you are asking people to spend up to $1,000 in one shot on.
I don't see how the threat of using the better part of a gold package only to have it wiped in the next round will motivate people to buy, but I'm sure you've got it in your business plan somewhere.
As for me, a wipe on a game I have been playing for probably a week give or take is enough to make me not want to rebuild.
Good luck with your game.
On a technical note, you'd think you would at least tell the player if they got the answer right or not. There isn't even any indication that your score has increased; you'd have to be watching it to know. Which is fine if you're involved, but this game is incredibly boring, so don't expect your children to be paying attention.
what I like:
previews of each user level on reload
autoload of total time
steady tick of time regardless of quality level
what I don't like:
countdown timer inaccuracies
fuzzy pics (you saved the tiny ones, and made them bigger? I could have given you a clearer pic if you had asked, I imagine everyone else you used could have, too)
all in all, nicely done
looks like it's not going to last long, though, unless you're planning on expanding it
My saying it doesn't deserve badges earlier is not an attack on the game, I only meant that there is no gameplay component to reward with a badge.
Massive memory leak leading me to have to end Firefox through the Task Manager. Firefox was reporting over 660 M usage before termination. This alone ruins your game.
You take long enough to "write" music, and you decide that elevator music ripoffs is a good idea? Annoying loop without a mute button, that alone made this game not worth playing. I'll play a game with no music, because I can run iTunes at the same time. Making me mute my entire laptop makes your game unplayable.
Would be nice if enemies changed appearance as they levelled up. You don't need a new MC to do this, you can adjust the colour of the MC you're currently using when you spawn it. Annoying to have to use the mouse to close the weapon shop, and then switch back to arrows to move. Consider having a key that closes the weapon shop (possibly the shoot key). Also, a replay button on the game over dialog would be nice. Nice touch with the inertia. I liked how the player moved, but at times it would have been nice if the player was brighter.
Nice Shootorial clone. Gameplay feels disconnected with the fire rate; consider removing auto-fire, or making the ship shoot faster. Also, the font colour you've used for bonuses is hard to read. Good work for a learning game, but there's not much here to differentiate it from Shoot! Keep learning, I'm watching for your future games.
Immunity = stun. I realize it means you may get hit again immediately, but that's the path I chose to go with. Thanks for the input, though; if I update it, I will probably make that change. I also have code for rewards that give you extra lives, depending on your combo length, that I took out for this release. I wanted to keep it simple and short.
Awful music, blocks don't drop smoothly, orphan blocks float in place instead of falling to core. Quit playing almost immediately b/c of all of the above. You might want to fix that.
Ignore all the "we want powerups!" comments, this game is great because of how simple it is. Sparce use of colour would be a nice touch, something like how they use colour in Sin City, but it's not necessary, the B&W looks good. What you NEED to add is volume control/mute options, and possibly different tracks (different genres). Great job!
Great concept, but boring implementation. Character moves too slowly from side to side, in relation to how quickly he can jump. Small jump is 3/8th the height of a large jump; why didn't you just make it 1/2? The 3/8 split makes the large jump seem like overkill. Overall, the game's well done, but it's not for me.
