May 11, 2013 9:27am Frengil, are you ever gonna make a sequel to 2020 the beginning? As much as the game could use some tweaking, the concept is brilliant. I really do hope you continue with it eventually.

Jan 5, 2013 5:28pm Are you planning to make a new 2020? I think if you followed the advice in the comments you could have a GREAT game, regardless of graphics.

I think the big problem with it was that the “next turn” button was easy to lose if you had no idea what you were looking for. I clicked on the other tabs and had to reload the game to figure it out. The graphics and AI are obviously not as good either. I hope you are able to take the best features from your games and combine them in a bug free way. show less

Feb 28, 2011 6:01pm Okay, after “beating” 2020 here are my thoughts. Missiles are the only way to go – my first game I did projectile weapons because I wanted to play a game with actual skill, but this wasn’t feasible in the long run. Missiles are vastly more powerful, have a huge range, almost never miss, and you can just fire them all and start reloading right away rather than waiting to aim shots and fire, which effectively means you can fire more often. Also, because they never miss you get the +3 gold every turn if you use them. They don’t need to be nerfed though – you need to bump up the power, fire rate, ammo and/or abilities of the other weapons. Also, the structural analyzer seems to be pretty worthless – bump it up to about 50% and make it only for projectile/beam weapons. Obviously there are a lot of ways you could improve the game. It depends on how much effort you want to put into it. One of the easier things to do would be to stop enemies from attacking every turn. Get rid of the racial penalties (some combos make it literally impossible to win) which are far too stiff. Improve the tech tree so it is possible to eventually research everything. Have more boss type attacks rather than swarms that take forever to kill using the same tactics. Add random yearly events, more positive than negative ones, to spice things up a bit. Again, some of these are easy to do, but if you want some help designing a sequel them PM me and I can give you a more ideas and help balance it out. show less |
