Good from a technical standpoint, but I have to agree that the challenge isn't there. I do love the music in the first area though. I think you need to make the two-hit monsters turn towards the player when they are hit and increase their speed. That will improve difficulty. A killable purple cloud type enemy in the first area would liven things up a bit too (a bird if you don't mind drawing a new sprite). Single hit enemies are way too easy. If they charged immediately after the player swing and you created a delay between player swings so he wasn't a death machine then that might make them more interesting - they should also stop right when he swings so they don't run into it. Alternatively they could dance back and towards the player before charging. You might want to implement mouse control in the main menu so 1st time players know how to start the game. It is silly I know, but people will rate you down for that.
It is kind of annoying losing what I thought were my primary upgrades when I got to the next level. If I'd known that was going to happen I would've bought/upgraded my gadgets/boosters instead.
Oh, it would be really neat if buying new skins/attack moves improved your dodge % by 1% for every skin you bought. It would make gathering stars more worthwhile.
Okay, I've beat the game with perfect ratings in all the missions and the "endless" challenges. I do feel like upgrading projectiles is almost worthless since you can't use them against bosses and they don't help with several of the challenge missions. To make them more useful it would be nice if you could collect feathers or some objects with them. For the final boss it would be really useful if you could use projectiles to destroy his fireballs. He is easy enough in the regular mission, but can be difficult in the boss rush/arena missions and this would help.
Surprising amount of depth for the simple gameplay, but I don't think the jump upgrade actually works. I seem to be jumping the same height after buying it twice.
If anyone is wondering why this is on the front page and had a 4.0 rating then it is because belugerin/thegames8 are notorious for using fake accounts to rate their games up. This usually happens at night/early morning. They will also use bots to rate down comments that mention these facts. Please share your opinion on thegames8/belugerin on the Kongregate thread devoted to them:

Kongregate won't action until they see there is a demand to solve the problem.
I can't seem to open the door with the turret behind it in the area right after the first red switch. There seems to be a southern door there too, but it is closed. Also, when I save and quit and reload it it takes me to the previous area and gets rid of the money, experience and research that I had.
Well, I wish there were more characters. I quit after I died. I accidentall advanced and then tried to retreat 6 times...and failed all six times. Game over.
Not a good design.
Very buggy. Problems with focus lost it staying up after resuming. Zoomed browser totally screws up the buttons so you can't see them. Difficulty is way too hard. You must like you on facebook/twitter/etc to get some upgrades - and the upgrades don't help much and/or you have no idea how to use them (don't know what "turbo" does other than adding an icon). First boss is nearly impossible to avoid and sometimes it is impossible depending on terrain, which means you have to avoid 4-5 shots (I didn't count) to get past him since you'll only have 1 or 2 hearts.
Great music and graphics, but needs serious playtesting and improvement.
I'm liking it so far, but it needs a few improvements. Walking speed needs to be increased greatly (probably doubled). AI needs to be improved - it should attack when you are onscreen and/or if they've taken damage. I feel limited in my skill selection since I'm basically forced to buy 1 level of every skill in order to get to the next batch. It would be better if the next batch of skills opened up based on total SP spent (no matter where they are spent). Bombs shouldn't vanish when thrown off screen. Starting health should be slightly increased if you improve the AI.
Nice job for the time frame. It obviously needs more work though - tool tips/tutorial, happiness indicator, sounds, etc. It absolutely isn't user-friendly at this point.
I totally agree... User-friendlyness is close to zero. I somewhat got used to the controls during the development cycle, so... yeah. You're not the only one noting this, so I created a tutorial on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7CF71ZfJxI
Maybe this will make everything a little clearer :)
I like the concept, but there are a few implementation problems. For one, you need hotkeys - numbers for the towers and Q,W,E for the spells. The other problem is the progression and upgrades. The first upgrade I bought was, presumably, the "dragon" tower, but I haven't been able to use it yet since I'm not on the level that allows it. If you buy a tower type then you should ALWAYS have one of that tower type. It is pointless to give people upgrade options if half the upgrades aren't allowed for every single level.
I hope everyone gives this game a chance. Here are a few tips for new players:
1. You can drag the view around with your mouse. 2. You need to drag your ranged weapon onto the toolbar to use it 3. Dwarf is a good class to use for the "Earth Might" spell - just put a few points in transmutation to get it 4. Elf mage with "fire" affinity is good early on with fire breath. 5. Conjuration is a very good magic school for many classes - esp. priests since you will get life and death affinities. 5. Garuda is a great race because you can fly over water to get away from many monsters. 6. If you are a mage do levels for death/life affinity. If you are a priest do levels for fire/water/earth/air affinities
There is certainly a fake account/bot problem and a lot of crappy developers seem to engage in it. The real tragedy is that they will often bot vote their competition down so they can win the weekly/monthly dev contests.
I hope you enjoy it!
