Yeah that was on purpose. Since the levels are the same with different AI I didn’t see a point in forcing the players to replay levels they can beat on a higher difficulty.

Jul 7, 2011 6:28am For CheckFlag: you should look into the AI concepts behind the actual chess game. A deeper search-tree and a proper positional/material evaluation would greatly improve the AI’s performance. Otherwise, nice game! :)

Taking a greater piece with a lesser piece should be something the AI seeks to avoid (the minotaurs are the queens of the game…they should be protected as such and the AI should almost never let a pawn take anything but another pawn…and the more a piece can move the greater it’s importance within its own kind…it gets fuzzier on whether a 3 move bishop is better or worse than a 2 move rook). Once you are either up by 2 pieces or have significant piece weight advantage, you’ve won. However, if you designed the AI to both tree path as well as weight consider to a decent amount, it’d probably be much closer to unstoppable…which would not be fun, but might be nice as a bonus for completing hard (I’ve run out of time to complete hard for tonight…so if this the end reward, oops :-D). Lots of fun and more complex than chess IMO. I think I might try to design something like this IRL. Very interesting concept! show less

Jul 6, 2011 8:27am OMFG you have successfully made my favorite game on Kongregate and you can also make it better with harder AI, I know it must be pretty damn hard to lay out every board level and make the moves and stuff but seeing as how you can do this it would be easy for you so goooo JOSH!!

Thanks for the compliment. The AI should try to defend the flag in some cases but I am sure there are scenarios I missed.
