it's a really interesting game, but battle is SOOOOO slow... needs a speed up or skip feature, especially when half the monsters can't even damage me....
it's a cool idea, but the range of RNG values is too high. at any time, I can meet up with an opponent with 45 attack or 660, and that's not balanced against armor/magic/skills, it's all just random.
the bug that makes the game unbeatable on hard mode is really frustrating... I always get it down to 1 guy remaining, but there's nobody left to shoot!
the major issue with the game is that the storyline is concocted in such a way as to push the purchase of premium content shamelessly. I arrive somewhere and have to move 20 of something, but my plane only has capacity for 12, so now I have to fly around aimlessly for hours until I level up twice to afford the bigger plane OR conveniently I can spend money and buy that plane now. How about letting me make 2 trips? There's still benefit to those who buy premium content, as they can advance in the game faster and make higher profit margins.
actually, while it may seem that the last level is 'unbeatable' the boss just has a large reserve of 'start-up' cash... if you can get a full battery of towers up and weather his initial advances, killing those units will give you enough resources to start chipping away at him. I like the elf, because you can throw out a few well upgraded archers right at the beginning, and speed them up to take out the first few waves
the concept is very interesting, but I found the game to be insufficiently strategic or challenging... There's not much strategy difference between the levels, and the subsequent waves in a level are just 'more of the same'. The hardest part of any level is usually 5 or 6 waves in, then you just grind through the rest on fast forward...
FINALLY got hard badge... it was the necromancer rowers (wave 19) that kept killing me, because they resist all special abilities and have so much (7000) HP and there's so many of them. Tried a bunch of strategies, but found the best was utilizing a few very highly upgraded (physical, consecrated) tacticians in key places....
you actually CAN beat the dragon without a divine edge, you just have to be maxed out for weapon and armor (or very close) and have an elixir... but other than those 3 things, it's easy.
also, frequently you get 2 dragons in rapid succession. This must be programmed in because they're pretty rare, and is virtually certain death, because you need divine edge to beat one, so even if you have one and can escape the first dragon, you're toast for the second.
don't like that the game's algorithm can put you in completely unwinnable situations... given that you basically can't beat a dragon without a divine fury, you shouldn't ever encounter one until you've had at least the option to purchase a divine fury.
the early maps are definitely beatable (through Europe) with a good starting location, some strategy and a little luck, but the challenge maps seem impossible... I just start to get a foothold and some random enemy comes barreling through with 200 units against my 50...
PvP is subpar. There is no strategy, it's just hack and slash, and not even any randomness. You essentially know before the battle starts who will win, and it's just a 1 minute long animation where you press 4 once...
waves don't get hard enough fast enough... upgrade tree should be non-linear... for example, if I want to save up and skip a weapon or turret, so there's really minimal upgrade 'strategy'. If the waves got harder faster (or capped at a higher level) I would have to choose my upgrades wisely in order to save up the 300K needed to build the EMP before being overrun, but at present, it's easy to keep up with the waves especially after 10 or so....
in reading your posts JoshuaJewell, I think the key fault is that the AI only looks 1 turn in advance (either attacking or defending). Most chess AI software looks 8 turns ahead. Granted, this game is a little simpler than chess, but it's very easy to fool the AI with moves like sacrifices etc to get its pieces out of position because it can't see that if it moves a piece, it's dead in 2 turns.... Otherwise a great game with a lot of potential!
I agree with the sniper comments, but have found that the Helli-G is a very effective sniper once you learn to use it. If you fly up to the top of the screen and estimate the angle OK, you can shoot very very far, and the enemies don't react because they can't see the gunman
Hi! Game is still heavily in development, as it was an entry for the GiTD. Battle will be rebalanced and probably sped up by tweaking stats a bit :)
