There seems to be the possibility of a color glitch. On level 6 there is a red ball inside red lava for me. I can barely see it even after watching a video tutorial where the target-ball is a much more visible purple.
If you're just here for the hateful badge of the "day" where Kong ruins everything fun for the holidays, I highly recommend Googling "Incremental Adventures Save Editor" If this badge takes as long as others have said, this might be the only way to actually make it a badge of the *day*
Note that Tutorial kills don't count (didn't for me at least) toward the Medium "Monster Mercenary" Badge, so you might not want to waste too much time there. This badge is going to take a bit of time as it is, but probably about what you'd expect for a Medium.
I'm so curious if anyone has ever gotten the "Easy" "Tropical Apprentice Badge" (that takes days to complete) before the Medium "Explorer of the Unknown – Locate and Merge The Second Character" badge without making a concerted effort to do precisely that. By just playing normally, I got medium first. Come on Kong, are you paying attention? Badges are becoming meaningless thanks to this kind of carelessness.
Not sure if it's just my setup somehow, but this game is causing my CPU (and sometimes Disk) usage to consistently skyrocket to about 50-90%. Closing the game always immediately reduces CPU back to about 5%
These badges of the day are becoming a stress test for game ratings as we respond to terrible BoTD the only way we can: lower the game's rating and hope it never pops up again, even when it's an otherwise sort-of-ok game. I feel bad for the game designers... They might be the biggest losers.
In case it helps, you can grab a star a few moments after grabbing the last coin. I wasted a lot of time trying to divine a more complex solution to one of the levels because I didn't know this.
In my case, archerbob was right about the badge not awarding until the next battle. That comment got voted down for some reason, so here's a verbose echo: After defeating the tavern's side boss, I didn't get the Easy badge until I clicked the Battle button on main screen and started fighting again.
The Favorite quest/reward is not intuitive, but works. Its 'push ctrl-D' tip is accurate, at least in Win7+Chrome, but it's not obvious that after viewing the tip you must first clear the tip from your screen, etc. and then push ctrl-d. Not being able to follow the tip's advice while the tip is up threw me for a bit. When I did it this way I got the reward, although it's kinda silly because this game still wasn't on my Kong Favorites list.
Is there any way to change decks/shows immediately after starting for the first time and deciding you don't like your first choice? The tutorial seemed to indicate that this can be changed easily, but after playing for a few minutes it appears that other decks/shows/characters actually have to be earned. Is there a way to reset all user data and start over?
Decent game. I just reached rank 7 for the challenge. Don't know if this is where it goes downhill, if major problems have been remedied, if people are just parroting, or what. I for one think the early-game is certainly worth its current 3.8/5 stars, if not higher. It's far better than most cash-grab/energy style games, & besides, what do we expect for a Challenge? Those 3 laptops (the Challenge rewards) don't pay for themselves. I doubt Kong has a ton of options for Challenges, and we have had far worse than this. Acceptable music, seamless/straight fwd game-play, reasonable load times (even on an old Vista laptop), colorful fantasy characters & atmosphere, the basics are all here & done right for this genre. Thumbs (at least partially) up!
When you get to the point where you level off to hunt for giant diamonds, it's helpful to go left. Your instruments block a bit of your view on the right side of the screen (but on the left side be careful not to click the Kongregate logo - it'll open another tab/window)
Is anyone else getting sporadic and significant sticky-keys / lag in the controls? Also, a silence/mute button on the pause menu would be pretty great.
From someone who switches between desktop and laptop frequently, thank you sooo much for including a cloud save!! I wish there were a Kongregate tag I could +1 for games with this amazing feature. It has a huge impact on which games I keep coming back to. Thanks!
Brilliant game! And it's left me with one question I can't seem to puzzle out... ([_*_!_Spoiler alert_!_*_]) - Why does each of them have a different security code toward the end of the game? Wouldn't they all come across the same blue file and consequently the same code? I could see variances allowing for different codes to be generated in different timelines, but then why would the computer accept them all? If someone would be so kind as to send me a message or leave a comment explaining this, it would be much appreciated!
Yeah, that was definitely an unintuitive thing (which is why the star in the sequel game immediately goes away upon level completion).
