This game is awesome. Combining probability manipulation, deckbuilding practice, and vocabulary is just brilliant. Love it.
It's probably a little easy though. I never lost or felt that I was going to lose.
decent, needs work, short game. the atmosphere is really neat though. love the camera locations, and the sound/image for the living room. make more games.
It's a good thing I just wanted the Dawn of War contest ticket: but some sort of glitch caused me to repeatedly fight the first battle with the ZCPI guys. I think it's because I died to a training map on the next world, and my auto save was back before I went to that world. Anyway I got to five on that particular battle.
I actually wish I could give this game a 6/5. Any game that has me replay the very first level dozens of times would. Its difficulty curve is smooth but still peaks quite high, it's easy enough for the casuals and yet there is a lot of depth to the game.
In fact, there may be no 'optimal' way to do some levels, and players could discover new tricks for each level even after a level is thought to be completely destroyed: much like some of the better commercial games today.
Wouldn't adding a perfect walkthrough get rid of the fun of the high score board?
5/5 either way, this game is designed quite well and can get quite deep
Good game, needs fixes:
Insanity should be more important. If you get megalomania, you are probably screwed, but if you get Xenophobia or something, it usually doesn't effect you much. To fix it, I think it should not be random, and the effects should stack and add up as it gets worse, with no lower cap (or one lower than -10)
Also, I think Arcane should have more of an effect. It usually does nothing compared to defense. Perhaps each spell using arcane should also increase arcane by 1 or 2.
Some cards are worthless. Blast 'em? It's awful. 3 damage when another card does 5 for the same price? Maybe make this card gain sanity or something else.
The AI needs some work. I think they don't consider their current ailment: my Xenopobic enemy repeatedly summoned... nothing.
All in all though, the game is really good, but needs some work. The Taint/Defense/Arcane system is neat and so is insanity, but it just needs work.
