I didn't even finish this game (yet) but I just wanted to remark that very few platforming games have given a commander keen / DOS era Duke Nukem, and this game is one of them. Fantastically fluid and well done. Full marks.
Pants on Fire powerup introduces a charge bar under your speedometer. The charge bar charges when you're moving at red line speeds, at max charge unleashes the pants on fire fireball mode, which I think is unlimited rocket charges for a brief time. The best synergies for this power up would be the propeller hat and rocket gummies, which keeps you at speed.
Huh, TIL once you've maxed the cruiser's progress bar out, stop pounding the gummy to be ejected into the clouds. If you keep pounding, you'll only go half as high.
The ice level needs more playtesting. Make the easter egg a little easier to obtain, and check the collision/hit boxes around the moving platform area.
What would be awesome is if the cauldron changed color to whichever color you most needed. It would save glancing and reading the list for the rune you need.
Need something for that gold? Upgrades! Weapons for defense: Sword, pistol, Ship's wheel shield (1 extra hit). Drops: Rum bottles (Extra hits), Clocks (Reset speed), Boots (run speed), Grappling hook (1 High Jump per collect), Pirate Maps (Coin showers), Pistol Pellets. Cosmetics: Eye patch, Captain's hat, peg leg, Scar.
Maybe make the coins stay on screen a fraction longer, I'm mostly collecting sparkles.
The existing blue bubble platform behavior should be seaweedy in appearance instead, the new blue bubble platform behavior should be slippery (can't stop/change directions without jumping), and the down arrow stuff should be tar/pitch covered. Barrels dropping the mentioned effects to change the platform behaviors can mix things up a little.
There was a very minor glitch where I fell off the bottom of the map when changing sides, thankfully I reappeared from the top again.
Why is the floor parallaxing? That looks weird.
I see lots of potential in this game. :D
Thanks for playing my game! Hope you like it! Also, thanks a lot for a bunch of ideas you proposed. Some of them seem totally legit and i will implement some of them in next patches. Good luck!
Excellent! I would love a little more angle control with the paddle. Reduction making your paddle smaller with a 10x bonus multiplier to the block multiplier is genius! I think the face in the concrete house with a 1 block window level is a bit unfair.
As a first match 3 game, it works. It needs a lot of polish to stand up against the big games. Needs better pattern matching (a T should match 5, not the vertical 3). Running out of moves should declare no more moves and reshuffle the board. Simultaneous matching, the game seems very procedural. I would love the game speed to be faster.
One suggestion: Make comparing the items in inventory easier at a glance by coloring the icon. If the item's buff(s) matches your equipped item and it is better, make the item green, if it's equal or worse - red. If the buff count and/or type doesn't match, put a question mark on it.
If you're having difficulty progressing, on your next stat point, unequip all armor and skills. Put the stat point on your weakest stat. You'll then be able to progress.
Thanks for the suggestion! :)
