After enjoying Crystal Story but being disappointed by the ending, I came here. Unfortunately, this game starts off looking uglier and being more boring than the beginning of the previous game. No character levels, you can't choose between fighter/mage/healer paths, the shop is almost empty, and Rock and Dargon were demoted to early game "bosses".
At first it was boring, although I appreciated how you could avoid enemies based on movement and line of sight. As I built my characters, saw their damage increasing, and got used to things, I grew to love this game.
I like some of the new skills and the additional control of the party. On the flip side, it feels like the game is getting unfair with the ridiculous enemy buffs and some unintuitive ways to win. Ah well, still a great game so far.
Ha this is charming and strategic enough for some short fun. I actually stacked a bunch of circles on each other in a failed attempt at one of the levels, and homenrah was amusingly correct.
In the first few levels I was enjoying feeling like a programmer and using what I learned and a little creativity to get the answers. I'm totally against having players use "it" because "it" breaks the immersion and you could argue that you could use "it" to solve everything. Even if it's episode 1, a more meaningful ending would have been nice and I didn't hear anything headphone worthy.
