Like seriously though, did it even cross the developers' mind that instead of using the mouse to both move and shoot you can use, I don't know, THE KEYBOARD for moving? Like EVERY OTHER DEFENDER GAME ON THIS SITE that at least got it right? BEFORE asking us for money to unlock premium stuff?
This is a very artistic game that looks like a crappy defender on the surface but is actually a very deep narrative about people fighting against the system to seek fair treatment. Did not expect that, would play again. 5/5 /s
I've been a fan of your games for a long time. Always so simple, fun, and charming. Although I do have a small nitpick and that is, why are the chopsticks placed on each side of the plate like a fork and knife? :P
This is a hard game. And not in a good way. I can go on all day about why this isn't a good game but others have already said a lot so instead here's a list of what the car does and doesn't do to demonstrate my point of the car being one of your biggest enemy in the game. What the car does: Break your headshot streak, attract you to itself, making you miss out on that one antidote, making you run away from heals, leave a hoard of zombies for you wherever you stop, waste time, elongate a level. What the car doesn't do: Progress the level, let you reload, let you choose whether to ride it, be helpful.
No move counter. No time/score counter. No pointless 3-star systems. No clunky menus. No obnoxious sponsor logos. No in-your-face tutorials, or any at all. Just puzzles. 5 stars.
For people who are having trouble with level 27, apparently you can HOLD DOWN space to do a longer roll. Actually, if you have good reflexes, you don't actually have to block the hole either.
Not to mention how the heavy machine guns late game takes a year and a half to reload. You're really better off with a hunting rifle and a M4 which is the only machine gun that doesn't suffer from this problem.
It was a fun game, but the machine guns in this game SUCKS. It's bad enough that you can't hit an elephant with their accuracy, and the fact that the recoil makes your cursor fly halfway across the screen certainly doesn't help either.
(continued) One final thing if you're going to make a sequel, which I assume you probably will, is that I highly suggest you put more time into considering what the player might do. Giving a hint while trying to combine the pendant with the feather was certainly a step in the right direction. For example, people who never got the fishing hook might try combing the feather and the pendant with the hand hook, or they might try getting water from places other that the river. I'm not encouraging hand-holding, but I think in situations like those, it's up to the devs to point the player to the right direction when the just missed the mark, as opposed to just denying the player with insults as if they tried combining an egg with a broom.
The game is overall pretty charming. It has nice art and some humor to keep you going. Although it is a bit frustrating at times. The biggest issue I have with this game are how items are too well hidden. I suggest leaving items where it would make sense relatively for them to be there, like the fishing hook at the docks, and put them in places where it won't just blend into the background. Ultimately, this is a point-and-click, not an item finding game. Another thing is how things seemingly don't make sense, for example, summoning a wizard with a cannonball or asking the other barbarian for hair dye. However, that is not because it's illogical, rather, the game doesn't do a good enough job leaving enough clues for the player to recall at a later point. If, say, the bartender said something about a connection between the wizard and the stand, no one would have had a problem with that. One final thing
I stayed around and got platinum for all the training games even after I got all the badges. I think this speaks more about the game than I ever could.
Extremely impressive for something that's done in 3 days. That being said, I truly hope you expand upon this gameplay after you struck gold this time. I would love to see this become a more upgrade-based arcadey game with more forms and less bugs.
