For towers, go to the menu and select Options, then set "Unit Info Detail" to on. You can then view stats when building new towers. Alternatively, place them in your unit bank once it has been unlocked. You can then scroll over them to view various bits of information.

Oh and btw: Special for Vandheer Lorde is jumping in the air, then charging a bolt of energy. Move over your target, then fire the energy beam, dealing some damage. Not a lot, though.
