This would be amazing on an iDevice, using the accelerometer to control movement. Seed random obstacles to generate endless tracks, connect it to the Game Center for leaderboards and multiplayer racing.. and I'd buy the hell out of this ;D
@Urak: I think upgrades are in vain of the spirit of the game. It derives its complexity from its simplicity. Adding an upgrade system would make it a different game entirely (which isn't a bad idea, imo). I could see a spinoff series utilizing upgrades to enhance stealth and combat to dispatch / evade guards without sounding the alarm, with enough haste to reach the VIP before he escapes. Would be a LOT of fun, but it wouldn't be Ultimate Assassin ;)
My favorite part is how the guards react to encountering your victim's corpse after you've already escaped. "Oh, would you look at that, the VIP is dead. Meh, nothing to see here, let's keep guarding."
OKAY, locked weapons become available when you begin Hard Mode. (SPOILER) If you want to kick *** and take names, Black Death + 3x "+2 to All" and 1x "+2 Reload" gives you a 14 shot weapon with all stats maxed out. Not much worth buying after that (Though Gold Rush can be fun, but be sure to only use it when you're really hurting, and when it comes time to reload.. just switch back to Black Death).
So uh.. how do you unlock guns? I see no information on this, and having made it through the first three zones already I'll be a tad bit upset if I cannot unlock the Black Death without playing on another site :3
Ignore me! I just noticed the comment that all cells must be filled. Most binary determination puzzles only require the "false" cells to be marked, this requires the "true" cells to be marked as well.
Once a puzzle is completed, isn't it supposed to list it as "Solved in xx:xx:xx" in the new game menu? It's just listed as "Saved" and doesn't state whether it was solved or has errors (no different from saving an erroneous solution).
I enjoy a challenging yet accessible puzzle. Draw a Line was very accessible, but not very challenging. But still, it required a different way of approaching a puzzle solution, and I very much enjoyed that :D I would very much enjoy a second installation of this game, perhaps with a little more focus on challenge, but not such that you forsake the game's accessibility. I give you a 5/5 for a solid, well polished game that has (imo) a promising future :)
After playing for quite a while, I'm convinced that Bullets + Acid (available by lvl 6) + Homing (available level 11) are the best combination for DPS. Nothing else in the game comes close to the 250 DPS inflicted ~20-30x per second via homing bullets. And it is my opinion that DPS is the most important thing in a Bullet Hell, as an enemy with lesser longevity will populate the screen with far fewer bullets.
It seems I should be playing more Nitrome games.. this game uses incredibly simple mechanics to make an incredibly difficult challenge. You're not breaking the mold here, but you're presenting a very well polished game with an incredible amount of detail paid to level design. It's incredible! 5/5
Awesome game, this definitely deserves to be front page'd :D There's lots of noise going on throughout the levels, but there's also definitely a method to the madness.
So.. like.. this isn't a game. But good work getting this far. Keep learning :) When you decide to endeavor to make a real game, you'll have to really tweak your physics and controls. Feels like Mr. Face is trying to move through molasses.
For what it is, it's actually quite good -- an oversimplified platformer with good challenges which aren't so bad / annoying as to deter you from playing further.
Gold rush is my personal favorite! But yeah, black death kicks the most butt!
