Ok, so it's a bit sloggy on my machine but the first time I went into first person mode with dual machine guns, my music turned on Ace of Spades at the same time. Serious badass points awarded.
There is a lack of complexity in the "choose newbs until income is high" that needs fixing. You don't need to defend your base - it does pretty well on its own. If you were to add a bounty for units killed (rewards better unit choice early) it'd make the decision more complex. Look to some of the Warcraft 3 House Wars (or some kind of wars); they do a great job of balancing, as well as adding more armor types.
Gotta say, I laughed at the shooting part and it's a fair bit addicting. That aside, the strongest feature is that it's restricted on Kongregate. 2/5 man, and that's as good as you can get with an incomplete game.
It would be really awesome to see some customizability that was worth anything. Currently, maxing in fire is too easy of a strategy, but maxing in divine is much less optimal. I'm not asking for Ikaruga style game play, but if it were a bit harder and the non-fire powers were decent then it would be an interesting game. You need to be able to make interesting choices, maybe requiring points in skills from all trees to build a stun and damage on top of HP/MP. Right now, you just need damage and lowered Mp cost. 3/5 - Fun play but forgettable.
The Hard level just isn't fun. It's a line, there's no thought necessary which is a definite problem with the Path Line Defenses. But I'd also like to repeat the slow-bug - that's a dealbreaker.
It's a kind of fun game but it seems like it's missing some serious fun elements. Very little variation in gameplay - point-and-click and point-and-click-behind-the-pond is hardly diverse. 3/5
Gotta say, having the ultimate weapons unlocked AFTER you're done with the game... not so fun. There are very few games with enough replay value to warrant delving into them any further than they extend. Getting "final" weapons does not entice me to continue playing this one. 3/5
Lag and a dearth of ammo make this game as frustrating as it is boring. Getting any weapon upgrade is shot in the face by an increased-cost-limited-ammo-system. It's no fun to be reduced to pistol-pimpling when I just dropped 10k on a machine gun. Especially because ammo drops are too low to be efficiently worthwhile.
So damn cool. If only the music was more often active (it would occasionally cut out when coming back from a pause). The use of sound was amazing in creating an atmosphere that the graphics lacked. In my opinion, it was an excellent decision. More games based on Greek myths!
