Best "traditional" rogue-like I've played in quite a while. Rogue-ish mechanics are quite popular the past years. You tweaked the traditional formula at just the right places. I think this is the way to go in order to transport the idea into modern gaming. Really looking forward for more. 5/5
Graphically impressive. Otherwise pretty horrible. Very close to a non-game because of the extremely uninspired puzzles. Extremely slow movement and animation speeds artificially stretched the playing time. Guess this would have been over in two minutes otherwise.
4/5 although I prefer more complex games. This game is just what skill games are all about. Really tight controls, great rewards for risky play, on the spot pacing.
You, sir, get the ultra-rare Wastelander 5/5!
Just everything about this game is flawlessly done. Not too much backtracking, which is fine. A tad short, but that's okay with me. I would have wished to see the upgrades being more important in boss fights, but that is complaining on a very high level. :)
Love the graphical style and music. Who did the songs?
You got the extremely rare 5/5 from me. I'll also tell you why. Mechanically your game is something I have never played before. That's saying something with my 28 years of gaming experience and an academic grade in game development. I have seen some very good examples of human language parsers in the past. Your parser seemed more or less "decent", but it didn't need to be perfect. At which point the explorative aspect kicks in. What you did there with only one room and a parser is very deep and you are transporting a message by the game mechanics alone. Instead of letting graphics and sound do the talking, its use is minimalistic but very deliberate. The writing isn't the greatest on the world, but again, does its job perfectly.
I bow to you, ScriptWelder. One of the most inspiring games I've played in a LONG while!
Congratulations! You managed to troll everybody! This is by far the best example of people having no clue about game development tricking everybody into thinking they made a decent game.
You might as well call yourself Sony Computer Entertainment!
Not only is this "game" as uninspired and boring as the rest, it's also bugged. Did anyone already give you 25 bucks for the hope of a working game that isn't as unfunny as this?
I don't want to be disrespectful, but you could have told the story better without slapping on some kind of alibi-interactivity. Except for throwing the stick and the pointlessly easy machinery puzzle, you could've just put in a "forward" button. 2/5 for the absolutely brillant art and story.
Controls are horrible. Regardless of how I map my keys, strokes get lost. I tried speedhack to eleminate the possibility of me just being bad at this game (despite having played O2JAM for nearly a year). Doesn't change a thing. Also, those horizontal lines in RB / GH aren't just decoration, you know? They're supposed to represent the tempo of a song. But that still doesn't explain fully, why your hlines AND you notes are off-beat. All in all: Rythm games without proper rythm and responsive controls are worthless - 1/5
Another great game that's just oozing atmosphere. Some might have noticed how much I bitch about flash adventure games lately and I am happy to see that this genre hasn't been killed yet by uncreative developers who make their totally unchallenging click-to-win games. Two thumbs up, Pastelgames! I hope to see MUCH more from you! 4/5
As some might already know: I really don't like click-to-win-type games without any sort of challenge. This was one of those and a pretty bad one to boot. There are DVD title menus with more interactivity than this. 1/5
