TLDR; tried coming back to HoKF but saw it was closed, remembered the good times and feeling sad about it

Played HoKF at webmmo.com about 10 years ago, back in 2009. Don’t recall the renaming to powermmo though, probably left the game before that. Also only recall having 1 single server at webmmo, but a quick search online displays a screenie with a s6 url.

Not sure which set of servers were released first, the ones at webmmo or here. (They weren’t linked, both sides had a set of servers, I didn’t know kongregate had HoKF till much later)

Anyway, suddenly remembered HoKF a month ago, but can’t seem to find it anywhere. Turns out that it closed down in 2012/2013?

Such a pity, I remember having so much fun chatting with fellow players while teaming up to enter an instance or talking sh*t with certain players that had ego the size of a small planet. Actually taking the time to read all the crappy text translations and laughing about how ridiculous it was.

The china servers are still up, though with much smaller player base (most of the servers have closed down on other platforms, there is only one main platform now).

The game is a lot different now. I’ve been playing by myself for the past month (in a chinese server) and hardly saw a soul around. Missed the flooding of chats on world chat, the consistent pink PMs which were confusing as hell when you were chatting with multiple people at once. Lastly, in game mailing was a thing too (when you dced too many times due to network issues and decided to chat via mail instead). HoKF was a simple browser game (definitely not now, there are 82989 instances and 920389283 types of gears) and had an amazing community, everyone knew almost everyone in the server.

I don’t think there will ever be a game like this, the games these days are all about the best and fancy graphics. I will always remember playing HoKF on a crappy laptop, staying up all night to climb an instance or chatting with friends in game.

It was fun.

I have a problem with Lincoln’s Memorial Day Event. It says “Each game account is eligible to receive this event reward once” I submitted for my Kongregate account for server Rebirth and my Powermmo account for server Legend. When submitting I asked in forums if there was a problem with my submission to which I received no reply. I spent 6 hour or more scanning world chat on each server not to see a GM once. So I asked one of your CMs. I was told I would be fine submitting for 2 servers. Now that event is over and rewards handed out I have received nothing. If your CMs do not know the correct information about events and GMs are never around to ask in game/forums. Then how do you expect a normal player to know? I am very disappointed in the way this event was handled as I do not see anything else I could have done on my part to prevent not getting a reward.

Unlike some, I like the fact that you send me PM’s. They often let me know when I should check out the guide’s again and show me the newest quest’s. I would also like to take this chance to thank you, for an amazing and time consuming (in this case its a good thing) game. However I do agree with some that you shouldn’t send private messages to anybody that’s every played the game before. Perhaps you can limit your messages to those that signed up to PowerMMO?
