Controls are not an issue on “Trust Your Instincts”. Once you get to the top of the stairs, you don’t jump up and land in those small spots. You keep running. You wont fall in between the spots. Hope that helps :)

About your Wasted Youth comment – You have the option to give up after each attempt. Doing so allows you to complete the mission and continue with the game. You have to actually finish the attempt (so finish all 3 laps) and then there is a choice box asking if you want to give up or try again.
