Why double the cost of gingerbread? If you want to reduce the amount of free energy, halving the drop rate of spices seems like a much better solution: It makes performing other tasks on friends' islands relatively more attactive, increases the value of spice rewards from other sources and doesn't punish players by essentially removing half of their previously earned spices. I personally lost lost several hundred cookies because I typically only make new gingerbread once my supply of cookies runs out.
I'm also stuck in the 'Creating map' phase of the loading screen. This issue seems to affect a growing number of players and is extremely frustrating...
