Unequip the weapon. You can still attack with it unequipped by hitting z next to an enemy (it contextually knows, you only ever have to equip a weapon if you want Z to always attack so you don't accidentally talk to people). This will change in the next update with an actual equipment system.
We're kind of straddling genre lines right now. It's a lot of experimenting! We have a lot of idle/incremental elements and a lot of management and RTS-ish elements. Hopefully we'll manage to carve out a balance between it all.
