Follow-up due to character limitations:
I like the concept of having prerequisites for equipping gear, it gives meaning to the choices made. But to make gear more accessible, I would provide attribute points per level, while raising the equipment requirements. That way the prerequisites still form a meaningful gateway, but you at least have hope of training up a character to use a certain piece of equipment.
For example: I'm stuck with an armorless character because the merchant doesn't sell anything else I can use, and he doesn't meet the requirements for any armor I do have.
Finally, please please please add an auto-combat button. There's just no need to make people click round-by-round for most battles!
This is a really great first swing at a traditional dungeon-crawler, and you should be proud of the work you've done on it.
Here are a few points of feedback.
The biggest issue right now seems to be that there's no reliable way for characters to grow. I'm swinging for 1-6 damage, but the only way to improve my weapon has a very high chance of destroying it because of the enchantment fail mechanic. And if the weapon gets destroyed, I have no obvious way to replace it, because I just don't have the resources to sink into another one. And even if I did grind for that, it would just put me back in the same position of having a high chance to lose the weapon again in order to improve it.
I would do one of two things. Either 1) eliminate the failure mechanic and make enchant scrolls rarer and more valuable to compensate, or 2) remove the part of the mechanic that destroys the weapon on failure.
I love these games, but I am not able to play this one. I get to the "enable flash cookies" screen, but I think I've enabled cookies, and it's still not working. Thoughts?
Try to follow this guide to turn on your cookies, and let me know if it works! 1- you first go to settings, then, go to content settings, and after that, click the “Cookies”, and there’s going to be a list of 3 items: “Allow sites to save and read cookie data” if that’s off, turn it on; 2- next is “Keep local data only until you quit your browser”, disable that; 3- and last is "Block third-party cookies, you HAVE to disable that if you want to play most games. I hope this helps!
A few other additional feedback items:
1. It would be nice, during a fight, to be able to mouse over buffs and loaded attacks to see what each one is.
2. When applying cards to loaded attacks, it would be great if you could show the attack's original stats, then a comparison to what the modified stats are.
3. Pleeaaaase make Bast a usable character!
4. Another thing that would really add some complexity to this game (and a reason to use the older characters) would be if the characters had synergies. Suppose, for example, that the Dog gave the Child a +50% boost to certain abilities. Or that the group gained a buff from having a user of every element in it at once.
This is a really great start, and you've already been given a lot of great feedback. Most of the issues are just around the UI and giving the player more information on what bonuses apply globally versus to only one power, what stacks and what doesn't, etc.
I do think you can find something to do with the outdated, useless cards. Maybe a system where you combine them?
I think this is a really fun game! A couple of suggestions on how to grow it:
1. I think it would be fun to see some pick-ups, like healing, slow-mo, shields, etc.
2. I'd love to see the ability to use your score to purchase upgrades for the next run!
3. Right now there's an obvious best strategy of sticking to the wall. Think about what this game could be like if the playing field were a non-euclidean space, like a sphere!
I would really like to see a mode where I could let an AI run my team against another AI team in the arena. I like this game a lot, but I don't always have time to run an intricate team battle.
Right now, it just doesn't strike the right balance between giving the developers a fair return on their labor and effectively requiring ongoing expenditures of real money to keep advancing.
It's pretty entertaining, but make no mistake -- this is another pay-to-play, pay-to-win game. It's fun enough that I want to see the creators get a return on their hard work. But even if you buy a starter pack to subsidize them, you'll quickly notice that your advancement is seriously limited by the lack of opportunities to acquire new heroes without paying for them.
I'd like to see a "smarter" randomization in the loot. Some kind of algorithm that says "Hmm, you're level X and you only have Y legendary heroes, therefore the likelihood of looting one should be raised by Z%." Something like that would really help when virtually everyone has legendaries filling their ranks but you only get 1-2 new heroes a day and they're usually common or uncommon.
