Goddamnit, I was SO going to get the impossible badge for this game. Only missing razor queen awards and I'd beaten them in practice... but then I logged on today and my game has been wiped. Do it all again? Nope. Nope nope nope.
To those complaining about the "small" rewards for combo gains - I think you must be missing the fact that it's cumulative. So for instance, for a 100-combo you don't score '20 coins', you in fact get 10+15+20 = 45 coins, so it is indeed better to get a 100 combo than 4 25-combos. This may sound small but it does add up and is in fact the best way to earn coins when you can rack up a big enough combo. To give you an idea:
100-combo: 45 coins
500-combo: 385 coins
1000-combo: 1260 coins
1500-combo: 2635 coins
2000-combo: 4510 coins
So yes, whilst it's true that when you hit 2000 it will come up with "only 210 coins", your actual reward for getting that is far higher.
Great game, although I definitely agree that something needs to be done about the pricing. In case anyone is wondering, the prices for the scroll upgrades are 500, 1500, 5000, 10000 and 25000, meaning it would take 168,000 coins to max them out. Add to that the 90,000 for the two skins and we're talking a quarter of a million coins, for a game where it's common to get less than 500 per run.
The pricing of the 'skip mission' goes so far as to make it redundant too - for example to skip my current mission of using 5 combo boosters I would have to pay 10,200, which is over double what it costs to just buy the boosters and use them...
Fantastic game! I loved burrito bison and I enjoyed this even more. Just to clarify - it seems as though the final potion upgrade gives you splash damage (so if you slash at a group of enemies you damage them all rather than one), so it's not just an aesthetic change. I could be wrong on this though!
Some tips for getting all perfects: The levels I found most difficult were 25 and 51. For 25 I used the tardio as I think it's the only controllable thing strong enough not to just fly right into the wheel right at the start.
For 51 I ended up using the Jouster - it's quite small and once you reach the top you can drop an egg to hit the rightmost switch, which avoids you having to fly down and back up again. This means you only have to avoid hitting walls in the tiny top compartment once rather than twice - you just have to remember to fly high above things where possible to avoid the duck putting its legs down!
For those who are wondering - you unlock the fourth meat (shrimp) at level 15 which requires around 18,000 points. I got there on day 27 so it's quite the grind!
This is really addictive! I've had practically no lag issues at all which surprises me as my laptop often does.
It reminds me of 'the missile game' which I played many years ago - except it feels far more polished and has the added elements of splits and turns. Thanks for the nostalgia and a fun game!
A few more thoughts I had: the races would get a lot more depth if there were more opponents, especially since the two opponents always stick fairly close to each other so currently every race is either a 3rd or a 1st as I either screw it up or I don't!
With looking for secrets, using a map feels like cheating but at the same time looking for them blindly feels like looking for a needle in a haystack (well, 20 needles). Maybe there's a way to get somewhere in between, such as some sort of partial clue as to where the secrets are (maybe a map with 'zones' to search in with the number of secrets in the zone, rather than pinpointed locations)? Also if we could use the mouse to move the camera around rather than it being fixed behind the car the whole time it'd make searching a lot easier!
This game is incredible! As far as feedback goes, the one thing I would say is that there seems to be a huge difficulty jump in the awards. For instance, in Hot Dog mode there's one for getting past the first round, but the next of this type is for getting to round 20 which seems incredibly hard. I've gotten to round 8 so far, it would be nice if this were at least recorded somewhere or if there were an achievement for say rounds 5, 10 and 15 as well as 20. I also agree that it'd be good to be able to see on the race select screen which races you've already beaten!
Great game, although it's a shame that the hard badge is so reliant on luck rather than improving in the actual game. The timing of the special notes come is crucial; for instance the yellow madnes has to come quite early, but not right at the start as then your dot is too small to catch everything in time. If it comes past about halfway the 5,000,000 becomes impossible as for the first half you've been scoring on a poor multiplier. And there's the times when multiple purples come at once so one gets wasted...
Still, it's relaxing enough so I don't mind sitting here waiting for the right set-up to come along!
Jeez I think this game hates me. Have twice had the '10 second boulder ride!' appear, only to find after completing the level that they were 9.5 and 9.9 seconds - come on!
Similarly with the doomsurf - first I got 59.2, now my stats say 60 but still no gold. Why me!!??
