While this game really isn't that bad, especially once you get used to the mechanics... Said mechanics are very difficult to get used to. The wall climbing is repetitive and the jumping can be very finicky at times; almost even unresponsive. The control scheme also really didn't help which makes the game even more rage inducing. Add in horrible save spots (not to mention the way you have to save) and you get a very tedious game that gives players the "Will to Rage". However, I will say I got the "Will to Admire the Simple Art-Style and Music" and again, once you get used to the infuriating mechanics; the game's okay. BUT THAT LAST WALL!!!
I love this game but I have one little issue... HOW DO YOU DISOBEY COFFEE BREAK? I jump/walk around, rapidly click, and press random keys; but it doesn't work. So that brings me (and a lot of players) back to the question: How do you disobey a coffee break?
I can't. I JUST CAN'T. I think I agree with most people here. The other game had a nice difficulty curve and were tear-jerkers. This entry is one big difficulty spike, and it gets more difficult. The concept was nice, but it was executed horribly, mainly because controlling the brother and sister is what made the puzzles difficult. Figuring out how to do them was easy, but doing the puzzle was a challenge because of the controls. I had to keep the walkthrough on a second time the whole time because I nearly raged trying to complete one level. I will admit though, it still has that tearjerker-factor like the other games, but still. The difficulty kept me from enjoying it as much as the others.
I love this game for one main reason: The creativity it brings out of people.
The one major flaw: The lag it begins to get once you add a lot to your level. It's very troublesome.
However, overall, this is a creative and potential-filled game.
While repetitive, it never gets boring. There are a few strategies to this game, but here's how I did it: Focus on upgrading launch power and base damage that way there's a high chance of hitting an object and taking down it's health. As for research, I recommend cost reduction and faster research points as the first priority before switching to the other ones (I recommend damage multiplier to be the first target.) Get at least 7 max shots (unless you want to do achievements). If you want autoshooting, anything is fine. And that's that. (I should probably go back to my homework, but... Maybe just a few more minutes of game time wouldn't hurt.)
Fun game, but I think I picked up a glitch (or maybe I'm doing something wrong and that's most likely the case) During the culture tutorial, I had one last desert tile, but I couldn't get rid of it no matter what, and the factory was close to it. I don't understand what I did wrong on that part, but despite that I still had fun with this game.
Oh no... Oh no... OH. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! (This game is so addictive, and as usual, hit detection is meh and controls can be unresponsive at times.
The second Lucille said she was trying to find a serial killer, I had the biggest "Oh crap" expression on my face. That being said, this was quite the interesting game. Granted, I wish there were multiple endings (I heard you can gain one by playing this on newgrounds) but hey, still a good game.
This game really knows how to set up atmosphere. When I first started the game, and had to use the lamp to walk around upstairs, all I was thinking was, "Don't look back, don't look back!"
Needless to say, awesome game.
Tips:
For the churches, hover your character over them and press 'R'. For the cities, do a similar thing but press 'T'.
Pressing "Esc" Will kill your character, and I highly recommend pressing it after getting all achievements, the two hardest involving you not pressing Z when you have the chance to use it and not using the arrow keys at all.
This is a great installment in the Daymare series, changing to a Platform-ish type of style is nice. I did get stuck because I couldn't find the last disk, but I eventually found the belltower after wandering around. Also, the music was a nice touch! 5/5
This game is enjoyable, and often I find myself returning to it and messing around. However, the one thing that bothers me is the lack of an "Undo" button, just in case the player makes a mistake and doesn't want to waste time fully erasing it. Other than that, this game is flawless, and it makes sense for it to be laggy when too much stuff is on screen.
As much as I loved the music, story, and the design... The controls are slippery, a bit precise, and sometimes unresponsive. That made the water levels more difficult than they should have been. Other than the controls, I found this game adorable and nice.
In order to actually have no trouble, even with all upgrades, you just need to pay attention to your surroundings. Anyway, this game is simple and addicting. And it's message about overcoming nightmares. Nice!
