Commenting again to offer advice regarding the hidden areas:
What could work is having the tiles blocked off until you get the teleporter, but revealing them when you cross by the tile for the first time. Maybe the oil well at the end could be seen by the player like if there were cracks in the floor, but the player is unable to go down until they acquire the teleporter. Then they know where the final objectives are even if they passed by the area before getting the xray goggles.
Something like how Hollow Knight has areas you know go somewhere but you also know your current upgrades will not suffice for passing through the area.
