For people just starting out- go ahead and splurge on 2 extra characters, cavern is the only way to reliably level them and you have to have 3 to start it.
When I played the first version of this game, I thought it was wonderful, but I was really confused by the story. Both of those things are more so with this one. I don't know whether I'm happy or sad about that.
Two things to mention- firstly, I am having a bug where PvP brawls appear and I can neither fight them nor pass them by- as if they were a normal monster that I can't attack. Big problem, as I can't get by some levels. Secondly, the economic problem can almost certainly be solved by being able to sell all the unwanted crap artefacts
Extreme difficulty made less extreme: farm first level till rank 5 then invest everything you have in troops. Then sit back and let them do most if not all of the work for you
Step 1: farm all of the monies from the enemy castle
Step 2: let your soldiers grind. If you're lucky they will have gained some xp
Step 3: Kill everything that moves
Very Important: the other epic war games pretty much suck except for 1 and 2. Don't expect the same kind of quality on 5, 6, or Saga, and 4 is kind of mediocre. 2 is the most interesting and 1 is LOTR themed.
Elves are by far the best race. Their elemental arrows can actually help you, and protecters attack faster than paladins and are good for shutting them down
I had a great idea regarding this: What if, as the frequency changes, the color of the wave changes- like light waves. That would be the only thing to make me happier with this game 5/5
