This game has so much potential, but it falls flat in so many areas: far too easy to obtain gold, to beat enemies (just silence everyone then have at it), to do essentially everything; takes far too long to progress through the game, grinding just to get to a fortress; grammatical mistakes everywhere, on top of an extremely ridiculous storyline that builds the main character to be invincible over and over--collaborate with a writer next time. Overall, I liked the attempt, but the execution was not there. I think there will be great games out of this designer in the future, though.
Excellent game. Very impressive that you were able to accomplish this all by yourself. My biggest criticism would be that it's far too easy. I didn't come close to dying at any point, and I hardly used potions. I was also waiting for other characters to join, since the game seemed to allude to that. Otherwise, I think it's remarkable, and I can't wait for part 2!
I don't know if it's the Unity3D or something in the programming, but the game is very glitchy. Sometimes it's fine, but others, it pauses, jumps, and freezes altogether. Iron out the kinks and I think you've got a fantastic concept for a game.
This is a fantastic game. It's a new take on tower defense with a valid (but mild) storyline. The weapon choices are decent and interesting: they make the player believe they've come across something that is so good, it makes the game too easy, when in reality, they're needed to stay alive. I agree that the story could be fleshed out a little. Also, maybe the range of the engineers could be surrounding them (or at least some of them) rather than just in front, to avoid the alien eating the guy behind but he can't turn around, for some reason. I want to also congratulate the attention to detail: the SOS flashing in the title screen, the diary-like storyline. It all reminds me of the film Moon--ambient, serene, eerie, yet believable. This is one of the best games I've played on Kongregate, so congratulations on a job amazingly done. 5/5.
The game LOOKS amazing (the sprites and graphics are fun and crisp), and SOUNDS amazing (I could probably listen to the background music all day), but the gameplay is really off. I don't touch spikes and I die. I'm barfing my brains out and I'm hardly moving. I think if the gameplay were more accessible, players would have a lot more fun and a lot less frustration. Right now, it's borderline unplayable. 2/5.
The game itself has a great premise, and a good system to motivate players to continue to play: having so many unlockable characters that the player can find.
The attention to detail is wonderful: citrus elemental, santa, etc.
Problems arise when certain "best" characters are unlocked, such as the Triclops Warrior or, the much better (in my opinion) Birdman Tribe Leader. With the latter, stages can be essentially skipped by flying around, and enemies are near impossible NOT to beat. Bosses are a breeze--all of them--so the level of challenge is very low.
The greater problem is that the levels are too repetitive and the character variety is not enough. I've played through the dungeon three times and still, after my free unlocks, have ten characters to unlock. I'd love to see what they are, but they're in areas where they will be found so rarely that it seems pointless to finish.
Overall, fun idea, but needs a lot of work. 3/5.
I'm not sure why people are complaining that this was too hard. I was #1 by year 217 or 218, and then had to wait around in that cave for three years. The final string of fights was a breeze, and should have had breaks between it, as I needed to save and go do something else. The actual gameplay is fun but simple, so props there. The storyline was not strong enough, and the text seemed like it was written by a five-year-old. If there were more mages to fight throughout and less waiting for things to happen, I'd be much happier with it. 3/5.
Glad you liked it :)
