Having played through a couple times, here are some tips for newcomers. 1) parrots are useful in early-midgame sections, but after that they do less damage than your normal cannons. You should only use them when you are fighting a boss and need to go balls to the wall. 2) grape and chain are useless against ships. Assuming you have hotshot, you will deplete their hull MUCH faster than their sails or their crew. Save your grape and chain for sea monsters, chain shot lowers the creature's attack and grape acts as a second cannon. 3) in the early-middle game you should spend all the time you have trying to save for the next ship. That is the only way you will progress. It is worth it to stock up on men and sack all the ports you can, unless you are trying to get the FoY ending. 4) monkeys do FA. Don't buy them.
The real question is: why do I have to pay 5 quadrillion dollars to have an energy drink company sponsor my team? Do you not get how sponsorship works?
I literally spend all my free time rearranging my troops trying to get a little bit more dps idk what I'm going to do when I've completed all the objectives I'll just turn off my computer and stare at a wall or something
Here is how to beat payload 150: Use the bullet and max it, do NOT go over max. For the single stage slot that you have, buy a spin booster and don't upgrade it yet. For the stage slots, start at the very bottom and buy something who's max lift is equal to the total weight of the payload + the bullet + this stage. Then move up one, and buy something who's max lift equals the payload + the bullet + the two stages you have. Keep working up like that until you fill the stage slots. (NOTE it is helpful to have the Monster Engine unlocked for this, as the max lift is extremely high). Then, for the launcher buy something who's max lift is equal to the total weight of everything else. + to keep this alive
Tips on combat: The best thing in the game is the jump, which allows you to dodge attacks. While knifing, it is very important to remember to only hit 3 times and then do the jump. After four knife hits, you will do the long-ass downward slash which gives the enemy a chance to score a hit on you. The shotgun demolishes police shields 1 hit, so save your shells. The baseball bat guys can hit you before you get into knife range, so make sure to get close. WARNING, TIME CONSUMING if you do the hit-hit-hit-jump strategy, you can knife the police shields but do NOT try to knife a police without a shield. They will f you up. Make sure the shotgun is fully loaded before you go into combat, the reload is about 3 seconds long, which is enough for the enemy to reach you and hit you from across the screen. Finally, when fighting a group of 3 or more enemies, do NOT let ANY of them hit you. You won't even have the time to jump, you will just be stuck being hit until you die. + to keep this alive
Quick strategy guide for early-mid game: 1) you NEED at least one minigun. The flying enemies are incredibly hard to knock out of the sky with grenades and railguns. 2) the front vehicle takes the most abuse from the ground, so make it a high-hp vehicle or one with a high level energy shield. 3) when prioritizing where to shoot: take out the kamikazes first priority (like the homing missile or the small brown choppers), the spawners second priority (like the green truck that spawns the flyers) and then go for the ones that do the most damage. 4) screaming random mad max quotes while playing will make you do more damage.
Hang on, let me get this straight. My uncle was the best caravaneer in the land, and all that I get from him is a cart and donkey? Man, caravaneer standards are pretty low.
I'd still like to revisit this sometime, will want to improve it a lot and probably move it more towards interactive fiction.
