I think you should be able to buy ammo for weapons at the start of each round, that way you have a use for all your excess gold once you've exhausted all the weapon upgrades.
I think what it needs is a screen indicating when you've won, I got through the game, but the badge wasn't awarded, and because there's nothing to indicate that I've beaten it I can't send a missing achievement report.
I feel bad for the competent students, they're forced to stick around because they're actually profitable while the other mediocre students are graduated for the sake of fame.
