The game itself would deserve 5/5 stars: fun, nice story, easy but not too much. However, after reaching 57/58 trophies after about 1 hour and a half, I fell pretty irritated by the last trophy, Addiction, that requires 2 hours and 30 minutes of gameplay. For this reason, 4/5!
First battle of the first tournament. Does a crit on the enemy making NEGATIVE healt. Does not die and becomes immortal for the rest of the battle. Very well programmed game.
People complaining about the money grab are right. Yet another game that either is too grindy (leading to wasted time) or pay to proceed in a NORMAL speed. Overall nice game, for the genre, but the slowness ruins all. 3/5
I liked the game, but there are two things that were really disappointing. First, the badges: both the Amateur Cartographer and the Golden Surprise require too much time with respect to a normal medium badge. Second, the last boss is complete RNG, since either you grind like a madman and boost your stats or you get lucky and get all crits (thing that happened to me after a few attempts). Overall good game, 3.5/5
Despite everyone saying that it is a great game, 5/5, best game eva and downvoting people with negative opinions, I find myself conflicted. Story is nice, the game is a roaming roguelike, side characters are funny and the development is linear. However controls are slippery and strange (left, right, x, c for the menu/pause not even said in game). The shadow is also a "what am I supposed to do?" and the first times you are bound to die and lose all the progress. Moreover it HAS to be beaten to achieve 100% completion, hence I don't approve the medium badge associated. Lastly, how do you end the game? You have no idea and even talking to everybody you have no info on it. The only hint is that a giant computer will repair your memories once you are enough "levelled up".
Since I don't like roaming around aimlessly for tons of time and doing trial and error with the keyboard to find the controls (menu being c was the best surprise), I give it a 3/5!
Too many gun points, make it 1 max. Only single gun run and have it easy badge. No seriously, this game can hardly be appreciated w.r.t. its brothers. There are no choices and pretty much the levels are just kill-proceed loop...
Fun at first, but after a while the boredom of grinding kicks in. I understand that we need to farm materials to upgrade the miner ship, but some items are too rare (viscera and chitin, I am talking about you) and ruins the whole game... 3/5
Ok let's go straight to the point. I understand that the impossible badge should be hard hard and super hard. I get it. Most of the challenges are hard but doable. But the acrobatic challenges are straight up bullshit. You have to know beforehand what to do because the screen goes too fast. :(
FINALLY, a good game with a good story. After having played all the chapters in one session, I am really glad to have found this gem!! I never felt bored and I enjoyed from the beginning to the very end! And I'm also sad that it ended so quickly!!! Hope to see again new adventures of Mr. Gilbert and it's trusty paperknife in the future (possibly near future). Good job!!
Thank you! We're not crying now, we just got some dust in our eyes! We really hope we'll be able to release another adventure for Mr. Gilbert and his trustworthy paperknife soon!
Stage 2: kill 5 enemies with explosion. Kills 12 enemies (skeletons, small slimes, bats altogether) and does not get it. Bats can hit you like without even touching you and the grind is real. 2/5
The story is well written and the game is enjoyable, with excellent longevity. However, the MISS hit rate seems to be quite strange MISS: with a 115% hit char against a 95% hit chance enemy, it's absurd to fail multiple consecutive times, and also multiple times during the game.
Moreover, i've seen game with the same longevity and easier than this with impossible badges. Remember, badges should be classified by time spent, and to reach the end you need A LOT of time.
Overall, a good game 4/5!
I found a soft lock related to door generation: it happened twice to have a room with the stairs to the next floor locked by a red gate. However the switch required to unlock the gate is also behind it.
The situation can be solved easily with a scroll of blinking, but if you are not in possession of it, well end of the game. Hope it can be useful to devs!
Also, f**k golems with reflection :P
I agree with @Xslaughter, yet another game with unfair badges. It would probably take less effort and time doing an impossible badge of other games than the medium in this one.
And I don't care if anyone downvotes my comments. This game is fun and has an interesting mechanic (exchange) BUT lags to much when collision happen and requires too much time for some badges. Since we all know that the grade of a badge is associated to time (not so fair imo, but that's how it is) expended to acquire it, this game has 2 unfair badges.
And yes, a game should be evaluated not only for the gameplay but also for the badges associated. 3/5!
So glad I finished this game. Great and fun, but I will never stop complaining about games that are reflex-based and are badged. The majority of people playing are on laptop, meaning trackpad. Reflex games are harder for them, and rewarding the FULL completion with a medium badge is just...no. 3/5
Nobody gonna talk about badges? No? Well, I am! Why oh dear Kongregate, do you allow badge on this kind of games? Idle games should NOT have badges. Shall we read the majority of the comments on these games? Hatred, hatred for the stupid badges that are worth like nothing but requires a huge amount of time, where ironically some games have shorter impossible badges. Please. Stop this nonsense.
I must say...for how much I love the fable series, the same problem that made me stop playing the previous games is still here: RNG BS. What can you do if you spawn in a room full (more than 10) of enemies, half of which is elite? Refresh the page and lose all your progress. Not happy bout that.
Thank you! We're not crying now, we just got some dust in our eyes! We really hope we'll be able to release another adventure for Mr. Gilbert and his trustworthy paperknife soon!
