Just recently got pricked by the picross bug. Seeing as I spend a bit of time here, it's nice to see a version here. Now, to play and see how it goes :)
You kill The End the same way you kill any of the lesser monsters you have to deal with. You kill The End by delivering more damage to him than he has hitpoints. Very simple, really.
The End is epic. The rest of it is kind of mediocre. My opinion: you shouldn't be able to get more EXP from a battlefield unless you get a higher score than you did the first time. As it is right now, it's too easy to repeat battlefields until you are maxed on everything.
Anybody here remember the old DOS game Scorched Earth? To me, that is the best artillery game ever. Yeah, it's graphics don't stack up to today's games, but I have yet to find another artillery type game that matches what I enjoy about SE.
Reminds me of a toy/game that was old about 20+ years ago. It was an electromechanical (best description I have for it) race car game that predated even the monchrome LCD games. The teack was simply a film that rode on a roller at either end and went 'round and 'round indefinitely. The car was a little plastic piece attached to some gearing that was then "controlled" by a little steering wheel mounted below the screen. All it would do is go back and forth. The track speed was adjustable to some extent, if I remember correctly. This kind of reminds me of that. In todays era, that is most definitely not a good thing. 1, only because you can't rate any lower.
Honestly, it's a nice variation on the TD theme. I'm on Chaos Ranger VI Medium, so it is possible to beat level 2 on Medium with a Chaos Ranger. Some people are just poor losers, and it shows in the comments they make. A game that is too easy to beat is worthless, and so are those who want a game like that. ZeroError, judging by your comments, it's no surprise that you got owned by this game. My $0.02 at the moment.
Got to love people who only comment to post referral links. Bloody spammers.
Anyway, nice step up from a consistently impressive (in my opinion) series.
The "multiplayer" may be nothing more than the best ghosts of prior players. After about level 30, I found that I was not playing against anybody. Now, on my second time through, I find I'm playing against myself. (Yes, I am/was/will be that bored :) )
Yes, the instructions are rather sparse. And it appears that English may not be the game author's primary language.
For all that it is a seriously outdated game by today's standards, Scorched Earth will always stand in my mind as the mark to which all other tank-based artillery games should strive to meet.
Eh, not too bad for a M:TG clone. The summoning time takes the place of M:TG's mana costs. Perhaps a bit longer summoning times for some of the more powerful creatures.
