I kinda expected I had to skip on meteors instead of clouds when I would reach space. And I wanted to pass a rainbow somewhere, but that may be just me being happy.
Some good achievments would be: Clear sky - fall with out touching a cloud (it happend to me), Safe return - Land without crashing (possible using your rocket to slow you down) Landlubber - crashing x times, Off ye go now - launch x times.
Also tips for players, don't use your rocket all at once, slow and steady helps you get bonusses (like AHOY, fuel packs, and lottery(yellow gem)) to keep you going longer. Also if you go up along one side *either right or left) try to go down the otherway to catch some additional coins you missed. and while jumping, watch your speed meter to see when you will be going down, then look for clouds nearby in advance.
@entforge, if you don't want grindy options, why not auto collect coins? perhaps with a drop formula related to the damage dealt, would make it easier for us, and perhaps even less likely to lag? otherwise great game again!
If this game was faster I may have liked it very much, but it just takes forever to play simple lvls, also a bit of story no matter how tacky, would greatly improve this game. so much potential, kinda makes me dissapointed this is it.

4. Vareity in missions:
a) Add more training missions (how to deflect shurikan etc)
b) Add mini bosses and diffrent kind of bosses (weak spot, spawning, reflecting its attack, temporal "invisibility", confusing(change direction buttons) etc.)
c) Hit x targets
d) Stage/travel level with caves/tunnels and jumping over obstacles.
e) Find item
f) Timebased missions (variant of survival)
g) Combine multiple goals (kill x before timer runs out)
5. Have an option to set controls to your liking (for non qwerty users/customizing)

3. Have some kind of equip screen where you can change:
a) Swords (+crit,lifedrain,high cap damage,swifter etc but keep the amount of swords limited for flavor)
b) Relics/Trinkets/Amulets, there are many more options here, and if you could have 2 at a time you could have a much wider vereity of stratagies.
(number of relics*number of relics-1)
c) Protective gear (giving dodge/speed/hp/bp bonus etc, get them from achievments maybe add a store?
d) Shuriken, Tags/Scrolls/Powderbombs with a one time use (buyable/lootable and show end of mission if it brings lag issues)

First of all I would like to thank you for such a great game! I really enjoyed it, but as you planned to make this game 3x as big, I hope you are thinking of a trilogy?
Here are some thoughts to make the game more diverce, some fine tuning and additional features you might consider:
(part1 for limited space in message box)
1. Adding achievments, wich unlock soul rewards/skills/relics.
(eg, finish mission x,finish mission with full hp, kill x enemy etc)
2. Altering the upgrade menu to a bit more of a skill tree idea (where you need to unlock a skill before another or have a certain amount in that skill before you unlock another option, have an option to reset skill points (perhaps at a cost of/returning % of your spend soul)
Also maybe a have tutorial pop up explaining upgrade menu (havent had any trouble with it, but read other people did)

lags too much, could use an easier start to warm up(just jumping over not through for example) didnt play long enough to give more suggestions, bud good luck with it.
