The trick to getting money isn't gathering the coins, it's maxing out the time before you hit the ground. You get an increase of x1 for every 10 seconds you're in the air, so using the rocket thrusters to keep hitting bounce pads and stay in the air longer is the way to rack up the most money at once.
How to trivialize the game: Make 2-3 rows of lasers (or just as many rows as you want), max them all out, have at least 1 row for magnets. Point the cursor a bit in front of the front row of lasers, fire, and watch the money pour in.
After beating the game with every play style, I can confidently say that the staff is the easiest way to beat the game, and the daggers are the hardest.
