This is a fun game!
Like many others, I have a few comments:
There is very little info in-game to help a new player. IMHO it is very tough to get started, especially since repairing the ship is so expensive early.
There doesn't seem to be any way to see your ship's stats? This would be useful when considering which ship to buy.
A speed button would be hugely helpful. The speeds could be:
2x (twice current open ocean speed)
1x (current open ocean speed)
.5x (current speed when ships are near)
.25x (combat speed)
