I finally figured out why this game's user interface is so completely unintuitive and why almost every mistake I make is a misclick. It's because the mouse buttons are the opposite way around to regular minesweeper. In regular minesweeper, you left-click for no mine and right click to mark a mine; in this game, it's the other way around. Really bad choice there.
Seriously? The medium badge is literally just keep playing levels until you get the stars? Not even "replay the level until you win really well"? Just "Replay it and win ten times"? Jeez. Come on, Kong.
Nicely done. It's easy, because there's no strategic element -- no legal move can ever hurt you. But the game's fun to play and everything's done very well. The user interface is completely intuitive; the "error" sounds tell you what's wrong. The background music is pleasant, though it would be nice to be able to mute it independently of the game sounds. I guess that's as close to a criticism as I'd come, though I was happy to leave the music on.
Seriously? SIX minutes of loading and unskippable intro before I can even start to play the game? Then an options menu that informs me that the annoying music volume is 100% but won't let me change it, and a desperately tedious game. Click on the stars to jump across the lava? What is this for? Five-year-olds?
@JeremySwantner I've no idea what you mean about glitches. I've played this game for hours, over a period of seven years and it's never once glitched on me.
Not being able to scroll the level is extremely annoying. I mean, do you _really_ expect me to memorize the layout of level 18? Seriously? Or am I supposed to just keep guessing and finding myself in dead ends?
This is just unplayable. The constant view scrolling means that, whenever you try to point the mouse at anything, that thing moves out of hte way and you have to chase it while fighting off motion sickness. And it's literally unplayable on Firefox if you have it set up to automatically search within the page when you type: the game doesn't accept focus so trying to move just searches the page for something like "aaawwwdss".
I think you should give the game more annoying music and make the hit-boxes for coins so small that you have to jump to collect coins that are at head-height. Oh, wait. You already did.
I don't understand people complaining about lag. This game is nearly ten years old so if it lags on a modern computer, that computer must be set up really badly.
I also played this through again, despite having all the badges already. It's a fun game. It'd be even better if the harder difficulty levels were a bit more of a challenge but so what? I've completed the game twice and enjoyed it both times. Can't really ask for more than that!
Reaching the "pro" level requires nothing more than doing two laps without coming off the track. Although the controls of this game make that a bit harder than you might expect, I do think it's rather, ahem, generous for a medium badge.
