Finally, a game that can be atmospheric and stylish with great music, and also be fun to play, while avoiding being a lot of pretentious "artsy" crap. Kudos.
"For the best experience, wear headphones." HORRIBLE STATIC. Thanks, I love it when my entertainment is actively trying to break my eardrums. Oh, and the minigames are kind of bland and boring and the story is really not as clever as it thinks it is. Overall, this is just another one of those "oh so indie" games.
Boy oh boy am I sick of these "artsy" games that are always derivative and are completely devoid of any genuine emotion or interesting gameplay! I also love when I explore a game's world and I am punished for doing so with an ending I didn't want to trigger!
I'm really not a fan of this kind of petty, blunt tactic to get an emotional response. Oh no, mommy's a bitch! If we're trying to be artistic and cool, we should really get beyond this kind of cheap ploy.
One giant flaw with this game... the meteor moves too fast and the screen is too short to see red fireflies and birds coming with a reasonable expectation of being able to dodge them. If the meteor was at the bottom of the screen while launching and the game was a bit taller, there might actually be some challenge involved in winning rather than just grinding to the best equipped meteor. Still pretty decent, but this flaw forces me down to 3/5.
If only your main attack in this game wasn't so horribly annoying and flawed! It's impossible to succeed swiftly because kitty doesn't return to you after killing an enemy, making hit and run attacks impossible since you need to go back into the storm of enemies, meaning unless you get lucky you have to die, run back to where you were going, and slowly grind enemy after enemy one by one just to make progress. WHERE'D HIS LASER GUN GO?!?!
