It is possible to get (fairly) big scores with one swipe without using the Grinder + 2 green Gloople combo. I used 2 Amalgams, a gloople, and a biter to get me 276 points in a single swing. Harder than the grinder method, but if you wanna be fancy you can try it or something like it.
Once you get the 100 tons achievement, it's pretty easy until around 475,000 points, where it gets pretty hard again. ALWAYS FOCUS ON THE SAILORS UNTIL 475,000! After that, if your health drops below 600, go back into the ocean and avoid fire until a health powerup appears. Get as many as you need until you're at 1300+ health, then go up and eat some more sailors. You should get to 500,000 fairly easily with a little practice. I got 512,000 and could have gone longer, but decided not to.
W00T, got the hard badge with 1,001. If you use Ononolaus's guide it's pretty easy, but without it it's a devil. You'd best get 10-2 because, even though it's really hard, it gets you 54 points if you do it well. Good luck!
I thought that there was API problems with the medium when I got a certain achievement, took me forever to realize that that achievement was for doing 20 levels with a 10+ score instead of 10 levels with a 20+ score *headdesk*
At first I was thinking "oh, just another sniper game..." but then I read through it a little more and saw that he was doing this for his stolen cookies. How is that not 5/5 material?
Only 3 powerups are really useful. One of them is the extra life. Best gotten at the beginning when it's easy. Instant level up levels you up, very useful for score increase. Don't risk a life for it, but if you can get it, do so. Triple score triples your score for about 10 seconds. If gotten when at 512 or 1024 points a hit, this thing is a god. Maybe worth risking 1 life for in the later bit, but no more than that. A VERY powerful upgrade, increased my score by ~25,000 when I got it.
If you hit a guy that hard with your melee attack then I would rather throw the weapon for the finishing blow instead of getting flip-kicked by a dead guy.
