Good game, enjoying it. Did not want to play but had to do it for the best of 2008 badge. Longest badge completion by far for that quest. I'm about 3 hours deep and no end in sight... I should go back to studying for the mcat, but I just really need that badge.
So...
-Played through without having to return to the surface after level 20, so you might want to make it harder to breeze through like that. No health potions maybe?
-Magic was pointless. It took a long time to cast and did not do significantly more damage than a regular attack. If you let the magic be cast before the battle starts, like one spell then the monster automatically attacks, it would have a point without changing the game much.
-Agility did not seem to help much. Maybe it would be worth multiplying the amount it improves attack speed a bit more. Anyways, agility is pointless in a lot of games so this is minor.
Overall it was fun. I like the idea, especially picking up stat crystals rather than regular leveling. Any inspiration from Lufia? Great game 4/5.
A few things... First, you can not finish the game in less than 12 days, so if you finish in 12, it should say something other than, "see if you can do better next time." Also, the mystery solving aspect is a little bit repetitive/involves no skill. It would be cooler if there was some amount of riddle to the clues. Finally, less importantly, there seem to be an abnormal amount of south paw murderers.
So, sometimes, if you're lucky, the game decides that the current level will never end and you just fly over a loop of scenery forever and no bloons come and you have to quit. I suspect it has to do with pressing escape at the wrong time.
