I like complex games, but this game is complex without the pay off of the time being worth it. Too many stats. The battle system is screwy. Hit for 1, hit for 1, hit for 1, hit for 1, hit for 85, hit for 1.
It's not hard, it's just needlessly complex considering the pay off of a rather boring game. Also, the combat system seems very flukey. One attack will hit for 1 point, then next turn 60 with the same variables. Many interface issues.
I hate upgrades in tower games. Your idea of buffer towers is new (to me) and different. It makes you think more about placement. It needs some basics like a "speed up" option and a way to scrap a game in progress (ESC) or something.
I'm talking about things that would make the game "perfect" in my opinion; it's 95% great, don't take my comments as bashing the game. I've wasted more time on it in the last week than on any other game since I left WOW.
Another problem with barbarian is it's 2 best damage abilities are the passives. That's great if your party can get a barbarian up to level 25 or 50.
You almost have to spend a turn using intimidate, which is sort of like being forced to take an action because they cannot wear heavy armor. Also, their weapon choices are oddly limted. I think a conjurer has more weapon variety than a barbarian. The warrior's Adrenaline accomplishes more in one skill point than a barbarian's 25 in one of the passives.
Asd: Hail of Arrows seems to divide all added effects by the number of attacks, or at least it does for poison. If you have 12 poison and Hail of Arrows 3 targets, they'll each end up with 2 poison per hit. I'd imagine stun%, kill% and vampiric work the same way, though I could be wrong.
Awesome game! Turn based games are hard to find. This is old school. I'd pay for a version with a little more variety so the play doesn't get stale so fast. I have tons of ideas for expanding this. If you update it or need testers for 3 let me know. I'm still trying to make barbarian work. I'm guessing he really shines in vampiric gear. Beyond more variety, if I could only make one change I'd add a "swap weapon" or "step" action to give dual rolers options, especially bow rogue, melee ranger or incinerate mage. I'm still exploring though. This makes me jones for DnD.
