Defensive game is broken. Team ranking is meaningless, a 1 star team plays just as well as a 5 star (defense and offense). AI timing is ridiculous, they can run the field in 30 secs but takes almost another 30 secs for me to return a punt that only went to the 20 yd line. RBs are overpowered and currently the only viable pass option (on a sweep). WRs are over guarded and with the current fumble mechanics they make better downfield guards for my RB than receivers. Despite this, its a fun game and I hope you keep working on it.
Good concept, still needs a lot of balancing. I've tried the pass game but the fumble/interception mechanics are too dependent on randomizers/morale/catch-up mechanics. The catch-up mechanics (the boosts the computer gets when you lead) undermine the rest of the games mechanics. My 5 star defense can't stop a single play against a 2 star offense if Im even barely ahead, completely nullifying the investments I put into defense. My veteran round 1 pick 5 star running back can run half the field in 1 play if Im behind, but if Im even one point ahead he suddenly can't catch, runs slower, and starts turning over the ball like a generic player. This makes playing low ranking teams just as hard (and sometimes harder) than the play-off teams. The morale mechanics are a bit too random also.
Enjoyed it for awhile. The pass interference is ridiculous. The cheat here is to have a good RB and just do sweeps every play, but by passing not handing off, easily gaining first downs methodically. Even the best defenses have trouble stopping it. The lame part is the use of fumbles, pathing, and bouncing as a difficulty adjustment. My WR will run the field on one team, then the next team with the same full condition he ignores passes, fumbles the ball into the secondaries hands, and becomes unreliable. The running back is the only player I had that performed consistently.
There needs to be a better way to pick plays than to click incessantly and cycling through a random selection.
I finally did it on hardcore. After following everyone else's advice, I made it with an earth mage (full earth/arcane+stealth/dodge), a wind mage (full air/arcane +stealth/dodge), and a pally (shield, heavy armor, full holy line, and chaos shield). Stamina was the key stat, I made sure all 3 started with 15+. I used Azor for healing and resurrect since losing a mage is easy sometimes and crippling. Use the regen global spell. During the final battle, your wind mage will blow around the spawns while your earth mage does dmg and keeps them off their feet. check your tanks equipment before any challenging battles, adjust resistances as needed.
Great game, I would love to see a sequel with some more gameplay (like new game+, longer story arc, etc.)
Game is still buggy, I also had the lock up while resetting problem/loss of prestige. It has potential though and reminds me of a cross between the defense game Majesty and the My Life as King building game. I thought a skill tree upgrade system would be nice to make the game advance faster after so many prestiges. If using the three tree system you could have Economics, Military, and Spells. I also think returning heroes should have a chance of gaining a bonus or (if you implement a research system) unlock some type of possible upgrade for their class. The chest in front of the guild hall should receive a bonus from returning heroes also (like a small percent of all the dungeons they helped clear, think taxes). Theres a lot you could do here, but figured Id throw some ideas out there.
After leaving the game open for a day, I reloaded and my money jumped by 100 times. I thought it might be coincidence, but after playing for 2 hrs, I reloaded again and my money almost doubled.
Shortly after clearing the pirates in sector 3 and the officer came out, I saved and quit. Now when I reload my game, the text that shows up right when the officer enters the sector pops up and my mouse stops working in the unity player. I can still pull up the ship overview and hit esc to enter the menu, so it is accepting keyboard commands, but not mouse. Saved game is unplayable. Great game otherwise 5/5
After your disease starts spreading to other countries, put your speed on slow, watch the ships near Madagascar closely. Right before a ship hits Madagascar, before it disappears from the world map, turn on sneezing and coughing. If the ship disappears and the island isn't infected, turn sneezing and coughing back off and try again. Doesn't work 100% of the time, but greatly improves the odds of infecting the island.
Almost need a rune to resurrect Allies just for the last level. I gave this game 5 stars till I got to the final boss. Too annoying and time consuming to finish.
A repeat last quest button would be invaluable. When farming mushrooms, it is tedious to keep clicking troops and supplies when its the same setup each time.
If you use the 1-1-1-0 setup and are waiting for the infection to spread, keep an eye on Madagascar, right after a boat turns off of its southeast shore to head into it and before it reaches the island, turn sneezing on to boost infection... works most of the time. + up so others can see
