I was going to make a "I represent the copyright holders, they would like to have a word with you" joke, but I decided against it, because I wasn't sure how well received such a joke would be here. In any case, great game!
I don't know if it was just me, but lag was a constant thorn in my side while playing this game. It was especially brutal at the end of the game. I would get about 3 or 4 fairyflies (and one time I even had 5), but then I'd experience extremely bad lag, to the point where I would lose control, and end up losing all the fairyflies due to my lack of control. I understand this may just be my connection (for the last few days it has been acting up), but I really hope the next game in the series (which I have yet to play, but I know that it is already made) has a pause function so that I can wait out any lag I might experience safely.
Beyond that, though, absolutely fantastic little romp through the forest. I ended up just one mushroom short of perfection (didn't get all the darklings, though).
Hooray! Johnny Saved Teh World from the robot created by the annoying neighbour girl! It was about to destroy Cleveland! Bravo, good sir! (I do wonder if people will get this very subtle reference...it's to a specific episode of an old cartoon...)
That's it, I'm done with this. I love tycoon games, but this game has too much out of the player's hands. "Room service sucks!" Yeah, I know, but I can't improve service in any way. They only level up based on days employed, and I can't train them beyond that or employ more. "This room doesn't have X in it! [where X is the sixth furnishing that type enjoys, when the other five are all present in the room]" I don't have the ability to put six furnishings in a room yet! "I usually like X, but this was disgusting!" There seems to be no way to prevent this, not even upgrading. "The receptionist sucks!" Again, I've got the best I've got on it, and can't increase stats.
The game has some nice features (the marketing system is especially well-designed), but the randomness and general lack of control make it frustrating. I just received the goal for the final family member, and it seems impossible outside of save/reload abuse (4 days of getting at least 4 stars from all customers)
Just got 3-stars after Day 35 (finished the Juana goal around Day 31, with excessive save/reload "abuse" to manipulate the luck). After the conversation you have with your rival on your first night as a 3-star, Nanay mentions that his customers always complain about the elevators. Is this a little friendly jab at Theme Hotel? I haven't played that yet, but I saw it had a lot of complaints about elevators... ;)
Chance of customer comment on room service still isn't high enough. I finally got one to comment on it after 10+ days, despite having good service. One solution/workaround is to give it priority over the "Free Parking" comment, which I kept getting instead of room service comments. NOTE TO FUTURE PLAYERS: Wait to upgrade Free Parking until after the "Juana" goal.
To anyone having trouble with snake: You can play it here! It's there in the top-left corner of the high-score window. Very creative. Very fun game. I didn't end up beating FML mode...that one obstacle featured therein was my biggest pain before unlocking it... (trying not to spoil)
This is better than any other indie metroidvania-style game that I've played (incl. non-flash). Seriously, this is on par with most Metroid games, if not better! The level design is superb, especially when it comes to secrets. auriplane is all like, "Yo, dog! I heard you like secrets, so we put secrets in our secrets so you can find while you find!" Or something like that, anyways. :P
