(Cont) Lastly, I can use completed quest scrolls multiple times, because sometimes they don't disappear from my inventory. I cleared the graveyard cave, and every time I used the hourglass in the crypt, I cleared the quest and it repeated my awards letting me grind up levels. Same for when I defeated the crystal boss in the dark woods, I cleared that quest three times before the scroll vanished. It's not necessarily bad, but.. It can be quite game-breaking if all I need to do to grind is simply select a quest scroll a dozen times. Anyways, sorry for the length of this, but I thought I'd give some helpful feedback. I enjoy the game, can't wait to see it in a more complete state! Also, consider adding autosave to the game.
(Cont) Next, let's discuss a few bugs I've found (actual bugs, not the one where I said my quest was broken then I fixed it by using the scroll). I won't go over the crack in the wall quest, as you've already stated you're working on it. So, did you know if an effect, say bless for example, wears off on a character, enemies can initiate battle while the dialogue box is still open? That's incredibly frustrating, if I'm trying to avoid lower level encounters. And also, I'm counting this as a bug for logical reasons, if my character counter attacks a poisonous enemy, thus nullifying his attack, did you know he can still be poisoned? That literally makes no sense. Why am I poisoned? I countered the attack. I took no damage whatsoever. Yet somehow the status effect can still go through?
(Cont.) Next, status effects. Tooltips would be very useful, as aside from obvious effects, I have absolutely no idea what they do. What does burn do to my characters, or hex? Why does the Heal spell rarely bless my characters, and what does bless even do? Not even the bless spell says what it does. Consider adding tooltips, bud.
Also, as someone playing on firefox, I've yet to suffer any crashes or major glitches with the game, but it does have random spurts of lag that lock up my entire computer. Not just firefox, but all background processes. Unsure how to go about fixing that, but.. Best of luck.
Alright, after putting some time into the game, time to give my feedback.
First, enemies are far too numerous and aggressive. Lower level areas are downright frustrating, as the enemies are useless to me, and it's easy to get cornered trying to avoid combat. Higher level areas aren't so bad, considering the enemies are worth fighting, but tight hallways with a dozen mobs to fight can get repetitive, to say the least. I'd either lower enemy aggression/numbers, or opt for random encounters instead.
Second, SP skills. At later levels, they are totally useless. As someone who just got to the nature goddess, I literally have not used a single SP skill since the first boss fight. This is especially true on mages, as they rely solely on skills to do damage.. which nets half the usual SP. Unless you intend for players to stick to only normal attacks against bosses, SP skills are simply too expensive to use, and take too long to pull out. And mages tend to have pretty weak normal attacks.
Hey, I noticed what I can only assume was a bug. I went to the northwest of the port and killed all the flame Minotaurs BEFORE getting the fire archer, and now they aren't respawning making it impossible to clear her quest.. I can only hope they are found elsewhere in the game, otherwise her quest is impossible to complete if you just happen to explore before hiring people. Please allow them to respawn!
At any rate, my boost ended, I can't buy any more, and I'm not willing to waste time trying to save up for an upgrade. My experience with this game is over.
It's a basic show of negligence towards your player base that can't afford that many kreds, and it turns off most of them from this game.
So how can you get more people to play it? Don't punish them for not having money to waste on an idle game. Money purchases should be a luxury, not a necessity. (Or you can, y'know, reduce the costs of items so that we can actually afford stuff)
It seems almost painfully unfair that you can only effectively earn money with boost active. Selling items is glaringly slow, it might take hours to earn enough to upgrade my shortswords to level 13. And the arena is even worse, I'm at a fight I can't possibly hope to defeat in my current state.
Now, assuming that this is on purpose, and you're hoping people will just suck it up and keep playing, that's just stupid. Sure, some people will be patient enough to keep playing like that, but a vast majority won't. You're losing a lot of potential players by punishing them if they can't shell out enough for a boost.
"But it's only 10 kreds!" Yes. It is only 10 kreds. For about 2-3 hours of grinding. So if I wanted it to last a full 24 hours (assuming I play that often), it now becomes 80-120 kreds depending on the interval of my purchases. Per day. That adds up awful quick, doesn't it?
The game was designed to be played, fairly, without a boost activated. Ask any of the veteran players who were playing since before the Boost existed and they'll tell you that they had no problems leveling up and upgrading their gear without it. I meant the boost at the beginning to be a way to help new players 'catch up' to the veterans, but I've gotten more complaints than compliments on it. I suppose the mistake I made was giving a boost to players from the beginning and getting them used to that pace. I'm fixing that mistake next patch.
I hope you won't be turned off by your experience and that you'll keep playing Eternal Quest. It has a lot to offer!
I feel like an option to speed things up, for example x2 or x3 speed, would be quite helpful for just grinding. Plus it would really improve the pace of the game.
It'd be pretty good if we had a way to purchase Level 2 and 3 unit drop boxes at a higher cost than level 1 drop boxes. Even if it is a much higher cost, it would help with getting units such as the Hades, or other ones that seem to require you burning actual money on volt coin drop boxes, just to have a -chance- of getting them. That's simply unfair, as some of these are required for more powerful fusions, such as the Fury, and so on.
great game i just beat it. i was looking through the comments and i do agree it was a little short but i like how the new game plus the enemies gave more exp and were tougher. also the bestary sounds like an awesome idea. i cant wait for chapter one. how long do u think it will take to finish chapter 1?
Go to your key items and use her quest scroll to continue the quest line, but her 2nd quest is bugged atm will have a fix up soon.
