An interesting concept, and very well-executed. I'd give it 4.5/5, rounding down because of the one major flaw: the useless survivor count (which, for example, shows 23 idlers when there are none on the map and one in each depot). Keeping count by hand would be certainly more accurate and probably less annoying.
Kar 98k is ridiculous. it can't even fire the requisite number of shots to get expert time on the speed challenge, and why does the slowest-firing gun require 98,000 (!) shots for its badge?
pretty weak. using a fighter or wizard is an exercise in frustration, since they have no way to heal for free. playing a cleric is ridiculously easy, since they do. no party will make up for the weaknesses of the first two classes; no party is even necessary (in fact it's more of a hindrance -- they need healing potions) with the last.
the monster difficulty only goes so high, but the player's stats are limited only by his gold -- and he'll find plenty of that. increasing the frequency of monster encounters does not fix this problem: being attacked by ancient red dragons with every step you take -- and killing them in one or two hits -- is boring.
the first few levels were fun and challenging. unfortunately this didn't last.
like the new interface touches, especially the counters of hits and mistakes -- no more coming 20 points shy of perfect 10 times in a row and not knowing why. the songs are not an improvement: too long, too many lyrics. 5/5
