Move forward, but the main thing is the writing. It's not a graphics driven game, so the writing and story need to be really beefed up. Get someone involved who can write. Then you code it.
It was a hot, steamy night. It sounded like a pogo stick was climbing my stairs, and a matching rat-tat sounded out as she knocked on my door. As she walked into the room, her blue eyes and red bow tie caught my attention. Purple skirts and blue pants do not normally suit a woman, but she wore it well. "I have a job for you," she whispered through a tight frown. "I need you to find shoes for me."

I'd pull back the perspective, make it a little bigger feeling.
Then I'd make powerups like wings, speed, slow, two little beings tied together (with all the physics problems/advantages) and so on.
