lockator: there are only two slots, so you can't use all six plates at once. The first slot has seven possibilities (six plates + nothing) and the second has six possibilities. 6 x 7 = 42, but that doesn't include 0,0, which makes 43.
The C in the bottom-right corner of the screen represented a combo timer, you have to kill another enemy to keep the combo going before the C shrinks to nothing (it doesn't tell you how long your combo is until it's over though).

wolfwolf... your 'hardest level evar' required only 6 of the 17 pieces. Just because there's one absurdly complex solution, doesn't mean there aren't half a dozen other really really simple solutions :P As to the game itself, it's awesome, aside from its shortness.
