Some very simple tips: Cobras obliterates cloud, anything with freeze will destroy green, and laser-halos or artillery-halos rape everything. Especially the artillery-halo.
If you are able to spam-rush artillery before mid-game, do it, especially against green, since they don't have phalanx and shields.
Cobras are a really good ship to have. They have outstanding range (which can actually use a nerf), disable shields (but not tactical shields) and have excellent range. Get it first if you can.
Let's play a little game. A game inside a game. This is a survival game, that is, for your computer. When you start am AI match, start your timer. Before it looks like you're going to win, turn off your internet, then resume. What should happen is that the enemy will be defeated, but the game will still be going.. Which mean? Your factories still still be making units!
Here's the fun part! Construct as many Fighter Yards/Naval Yards as you can around the map and see how long you last before you crash the game!
There should be an upgrade section where you choose your upgrades BUT, it's only a 50% chance you'll get what you and it's much more expensive. The balanced part? The three upgrades you choose are the ONLY ones you can get and (as stated before) only allows a 50% of getting them each.
I'm going to say it plainly. Base defence absolutely sucks. Not even kidding. If we are able to be attacked 24/7 without any kind of break or "cool-down" time then I don't see why we should invest time into this unless we (I hate to say it) pay-to-win. Buff defence, nerf offence.
I said in a previous comment that base defence has to be buffed. Yes, it still does, but what about attack limits? I leave the game for 30 minutes and 3/4 of my carbon is gone because at least 10 people attack my base with no restrictions at all. If there's not enough players, what about making procedurally generated pirate bases? At least put some sort of limit to how many times we can be attacked per day/hour
We really want to get bases fixed, but we want to do it right. We tried something in 2.5 and didn't like it, so we didn't release it. We will give this proper thought and do it right.
I think that players should have to go through another's fleets before going in to attack their base. Base defence esp. at the beginning stands no chance against other fleets who are in the same level, so maybe those can use a serious buff.
If you've played games like War Commander or Vega Conflict then this will be almost too wasy for you at the beginning. 4/5, pretty enjoyable game that seems to have much potential
Base raid defense = top priority... but we want to make sure it is done right.
