I've been on this site for years, and always enjoyed badge hunting, leveling up, chatting with friends while playing games, and so on. The nostalgia this site has for me is the biggest reason I haven't bailed after blatant cash grab games like this keep getting badged (presumably because they paid for it), but I think I might be done with this site now. Getting badges used to be fun, but with these sorts of games getting badged, it's feeling more and more like a chore. Greedy devs making cash grab games is expected, but kong badging them more and more just goes to show how far this site has fallen. It genuinely hurts that such a large part of my childhood has stooped to trading user experience for money. Good luck to those that remain, but I'm done.
7 years later, and I finally beat it on harder. There's a lot of luck needed to not get screwed by the random blights and people dying and stuff, but there are ways to minimize the risks. I just recruited and expanded aggressively towards one corner of the map on the rural (right) side of the city. Every normal survivor I got I put on guard duty to make them a soldier. The graveyard was in that corner, so when I got to it and had killed enough zombies in it to be able to reclaim it, I had made/gotten enough soldiers to close the portal. I started that immediately and just focused on defending for the 10 turns. That's what worked for me, hopefully this helps someone. I'm just glad to be done with this.
"Drive 2.5 miles in 65 seconds while weaving through barricades and dodging the helicopter dropping mines in front of you the whole time, all while your car is broken and always drifting down" Oh, okay. You want me to play with inverted controls too? Put on a blindfold perhaps? Maybe I could also sit on my arm until it's numb, then play like that, all while my computer is upside down and a rabid monkey bashes my head in with a brick, hopefully making me forget my endless frustration while trying to get that stupid hard badge? Yeah sure. No problem. I can do that.
I'm almost positive whoever made the extreme random attack badge is a sadist. Try as I might, I couldn't achieve this *enlightenment* of being able to see the image in the lines, except for the simple ones like the numbers and letters. Ended up having to throw myself at the extreme random attack mode again and again for hours until i got enough that I knew to get to 20. The more of them you have memorized, the better your chances of getting to 20, so memorizing some of the ones with more recognizable line movements helped some. I'm just glad I got the badge and never have to play this again...
I know this game is old, but it irks me that it's claimed to be based upon "great skill (and a little luck)" when it should be the other way around. There's some level of skill needed, sure, but skill means absolutely nothing if the rng screws you, which isn't uncommon. This doesn't making winning *that* much harder, but it makes getting particular awards a pain, because a lot of them are based on getting lucky, rather than actually overcoming a challenge, like the "Get X consecutive zilch-free victories". You can play as safe as humanly possible, but still lose a streak because the rng gives you a zilch before you get to 300. If not for the exploit (since I highly doubt it was intended) where you can quit out of a game before it ends to not lose a streak, getting those awards (and by extension, the hard badge) incredibly infuriating. Doesn't help that the game refuses to save your progress if you accidentally refresh or something.
I really like the music. It gives off a sort of "the end of the world is at hand" vibe, which fits with the whole "either we stop the darkness or it consumes everyone and everything" narrative. Makes the game like ten times cooler.
Whenever they badged a garbage p2w game, there was at least the comfort in the knowledge that once you got the game's badge(s), you were done. You never had to play it again. I guess we don't even get that now, huh?
Looked up a walkthrough just because the art style was seriously giving me a headache... Way too detailed and colorful. Other than that it was alright, I guess.
Please stop badging games like this. If people want to waste their time playing these low quality, unoptimized, and almost always P2W games, then fine. But please don't lock badges behind games that barely qualify as games. Like 90% of this game is just watching the animations of the cards and chests opening and stuff...
Really good game. I was honestly expecting more of a grind to be able to kill the necromancer, but I was able to kill him the second time I went up there, and I was only level 24. Might've helped that I bee-lined towards all the XP bonuses in the skill tree thing, I dunno. Also just realized I didn't even have a shield equipped, lol.
It'd be really nice if nearly HALF MY FREAKING SHOTS wouldn't go right THROUGH the enemies without doing ANY damage. It happens with the lightning penguin too. This is a really good game, but dear god is it hard to take down dragons when entire icicle barrages go right through them. I imagine this is because of how much is on the screen but jesus...
I've found that pausing the game frequently and giving it a few moments to catch up help to keep the game from freezing in FUBAR mode. Also, it's extremely annoying that the soldiers can shoot through things like cars and stuff. I can't see them, but they can see me and their bullets are magic and go through anything.
Nevermind. Didn't realize the bubbles were way more helpful than I thought. I always ignored them when I would have to give up a combo but I guess the bubbles are more important.
It's really irritating how much the early game tree spawns can make you fail if you're going for the hard badge. A gatherer/lumberdwarf having to walk all the way to the end and back can cost you way too much time in the early game since they're so freaking slow.
Alright, okay, twice now you've fooled me into thinking this was a sort of innocent puzzle game, and then someone DIES. First the guy from the first one got decapitated, and now this. I don't even know anymore man.
A little grindy in the beginning but it's not terrible. It'd be really nice if the "CRITICAL" messages would be BEHIND the health bars though. Makes it really hard to quickly switch from target to target when I can't see the health bars because there's a bunch of CRITICAL messages in front of them. Aside from that this was pretty enjoyable to me.
I like the concept. It just irritates me to no end how often RNG screws you out of a good run by throwing you an impossible scenario. It ends up making it so that you have to just throw yourself at the same level again and again until the RNG grants you mercy so you can get a decent score if you're going for the last badge. I mean yeah, skill is a factor too, but sometimes it doesn't matter how skillful you are, because the lines generate in such a way that you have essentially no chance of not losing.
