Ended up making a cloud spell with most of the debuffs. Later I found a spell to absorb clouds and give me power. Turns out the absorb spell is broken. I absorbed my clouds and started hitting in the hundred thousands.
I also found that using a spell for regen is significantly less effective than using a heal spell with cloud. I'd heal for 40~ a tick on my heal clouds, but only 8-12 on a regen spell. The catch is that you have to stay still, but with a counter spell you can literally sit there and heal while stuff dies around you. Regen doesn't do enough to keep you alive, but the clouds are more than sufficient.
Besides that game breaking combo and the strange weakness of regen, I found the game really enjoyable. 5/5
Really probably my only problem about this game is that after you switch to a higher difficulty the majority of the game relies on chance. I can not believe how many times I missed a 97% chance to hit. I am either extremely unlucky or that's actually 97% chance to miss. It's frustrating having the entire fight rely on whether or not I'm lucky.
I was having fun at first... and then I died... again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN... and I'm still dieing Q_q
I just can't seem to get the damage zombie completely achievement... I can't really think of any other ways to hurt it considering I've done everything multiple times. The only thing I can still think of doing is hurting it's self esteem :/
I simply can NOT bring myself to give this game a 5/5 or even a 4/5. The excessive amount of time it takes just to complete a turn is unbearable. It takes me on average 30~ to clear one level. The levels aren't even that hard, it's just the ridiculous amount of time it takes for the units to deploy, the troops to move, and the overall gameplay to unfold. The game is solid and the gameplay would be 5/5 worthy if I could set the speed to 4-8x or so. I understand this is a turn-based game but that's hardly an excuse. Good game, just at a terrible speed.
I liked it at first, but got bored due to the slow and repetitive gameplay. I don't particularly like how you only get 3 ability points a level especially considering how annoying leveling feels. Absolutely sick of getting "slowed" due to the fact that it's already slow without slow. It really does get less fun pretty quickly. Training is bleh as well and I tended to miss alot more as the game progressed. Overall it was alright but 3/5.
Here's a few idea's for your game. The overall gameplay is nice, but as said below, there is far too much exp points left over, so why not use those for different idea's? you could use xp points to buy more equipment slots, to upgrade the tier of the unit, like a warrior becomes a knight, or maybe it could branch off so it's either a knight or a berserker, and an archer could become a ranger and so on and so forth. Earlier in the comments I mentioned a global experience system; I still support this idea.
I wish there was some form of Global Exp Upgrade Menu... using the xp gathered by ALL of your units you could choose upgrades that would benefit everything as a whole or just your hero. Would be a nice way to get rid of that extra xp late game.
Damn... I can't beat the trials. Tried the first trial... did my best, but my best wasn't enough. The Collosus ended up 1 hitting my hero and 3 hitting my best units without much effort. Heroes are entirely useless late game. I'd honestly rather replace heroes with hobbits just so I have more meat shields. Oh well I still had fun so 5/5.
This game would be so much better imo if you could set priorities for each archer/swordsman etc... For example setting the archers to attack the fast units and the guards to not attack units that another guard is already fighting in order to stave off more of the enemies at once.
*Sigh* Doesn't seem like I'll be able to finish this regretfully... between losing my companion to that hold glitch I seem to be getting and apparently losing my ability to walk while shooting as well, I can't really do anything anymore... still I like this game so 5/5.
