Actually, if you don't die, it takes very little time to get a Vanguard. Once you do that, it's a matter of time until you face off against the robot.
I died once to a group of buccaneers when I was a buccaneer. They killed me. I reloaded my game and tried to flee from an attacking buccaneer, this time on foot. I got killed because before I died last game, I had 6 HP. This game sucks.
