You only about 2200 mana for this configuration, so the choice of hero should not matter. I was using Abe Mukanaga because he seems to have the most at level 30 with 3200 mana. But again, I don't think it makes a difference.
This actually worked for me:
For CoT 5 use: Witch, Mermaid, Centaur, Goblin, Engineer, bomberman, comet, invincibility, heal, 2x damage, lightning, rain of arrows.
I used Phantom Armor instead of Mermaid because I didn't have it. Just let your hero and Centaurs go forward and the rest of the army build to full strength. Heal and Rain of Arrows helps a bit here too. Once the army is completely built, wait for your spells to charge. Then send everyone forward in one mass. Use Invincibility and 2x Strength before you attack the goblin. He'll eventually run through you group, but he shouldn't kill everyone. Continue pressing forward so that the bombers keep him busy while the last of the troops take out the castle. Use your comet at the end to keep the counter attacks at bay so that your troops can attack the castle.
3) Speed - The transition animations run way too slow. For example, doing a spell involves:
Wait for menu to scroll up.
...
Wait for fade out.
Wait for spell name to fade in.
Wait for spell name to fade out.
Wait for spell animation.
Wait for damage animation.
Wait for 2 EXP.
Wait for fade in.
Wait for menu to scroll up.
Too much waiting. Combine or eliminate some animations or have them take 1/4 the time they do now.
4) Clicking - In some scenarios it is impossible for a character to move to the space covered by the mage's hat. If it isn't selectable for the action, then it should not interfere with the hot spots.
This game is very close to being awesome.
1) Choosing the direction to face - 99% of the time you'll want to face the direction you finished walking or just finished attacking. So having to choose a direction for each character every turn is extremely redundant. Also, the hit area is too small. If you really need to choose a direction, let the user double click End Turn to use the current direction. Or include a Change Direction option in the Actions menu.
2) Treasure Boxes - I've done 10 battles at the beginning looking for more small treasure boxes. I have only found medium boxes. None so far. That's taken an hour, so to reach level 10 treasure boxes (assuming I find one really soon) would take 5 hours. Ugg. Don't think so. I'll just never see what is in all those medium and very difficult boxes I have stocked up.
5/5 for a great update, the original was one of my favorites but this one rules! 1/5 due to the locked content, should add a disclaimer that you really need to play at armor before people play for 20 minutes only to find their path blocked.
Couldn't get badges - I had previously gotten most of the medals so when the badges appeared I didn't receive them automatically. After trying to re-get the medals, that didn't work. Finally out of frustration I just clicked Refresh in the browser over and over. After about 4 times the badges were suddenly awarded to me. Hope this helps others with the same issue.
bleeeeeaaa... ahh much better. Excellent game. If I keep playing even though I'm feeling sick, that must be a really good sign. I'm going to lay down now. After this level.
What a brilliant game. So many ways to play. The last level is terribly hard, he destroyed almost all of my turrents before going down... lots of fun. Wish it was a little longer, want to see what it is like to have a fully modded ship. 5/5 Fav++
