also, exactly what angry_pwn said.. "5 minute tragedies that make people sad & rate 5. " this is a phenomenon i do not understand and wish to stop. its just a fricking tragedy... and if all you need is a cheesy ass tragedy for you to love this game, you just want something to cry about. my earlier point.
okay really i think the thing is i prefer stories that evoke multiple emotions, this one only evokes one - depression because of the characters alienation. honestly, it does that one emotion pretty well, but the "get back with your girlfriend who left you for playing to much video games" (forgot what it was called but it was on kongs front page a while back) that story had more plot to it, you got angry, you listened, you sympathized, lol
rendal, you think this is a good story, but look, in the last 2 minutes, 2 people said it was a good story, and 3 people said it was weak. im just saying, maybe u 2 people are going crazy over a story that isnt really that good. it just doesnt make sense why jonah would go to loondon. he should know he would get made fun of, everyone should be able to warn him of that, but they are oblivious. that sets up the whole story, and i cant overlook it.
well it reads 3.84 right now, i think thats about right, anywhere between a 3.2 and a 4 id say is about right. just saying, my actions can carry more weight if i observe the actions of others and adjust accordingly. i noticed too many 5/5's than i think this deserves so balanced with a 1/5.. youve never done that before?
oh, i didnt notice it was a christian reference... alright eat it up then.. but ill still rate 1/5 to balance this from growing bigger than it should be.
right. and i disagree with you rewarding this author with 5 points because i think that 5 should be saved for a truly deep story that lives up to all storytelling media. the reason i gave this a 1/5 is that i noticed many people giving it a 5/5. in effect, 3 people can give it a 5/5, and i give it a 1/5, totalling 16/20, or 4/5, which is what i truly feel this game deserves.
then stay off the internet. you cant control what people say. feel free to label me, im not gonna cry about it. call me insensitive but i know a good story when i see/read one. anyone who is truly in love with this story simply needs a little something to cry about because thats all this is. my definition of someone who just wants something to cry about = an emo.
@pheon good point. but still, it does not deserve 5/5. there are not many great deep stories in flash games, and here is one that kind of goes in the right direction, but very weakly. i just do not feel it should be embraced as a great story because IT IS NOT. it is an okay story in a medium that is developing, i will rave when i see a story worth raving about.
@arbiter, what the hell are you talking about. no i would not insult someone for being more appreciative of deeper meanings. but quite frankly, there is not much of a deep story here.
the first thing u learn is that the outcasts were banished by the normal people... so wouldnt the outcasts be aware that going to the city they would only get pushed around and laughed at? yet NOONE seemed to know/care and just wave jonah bye. the events that contributed to the plot and character relationships are underdone flash interactions... oh no i cant get the apple... *shake* ...you helped me!!! seriously... the quests in world of warcraft have a deeper plot.
are you kidding me? arbiter... i LOVE a good story, both in a book or a movie. but quite frankly, this is a very basic, quickly done, shallow story. and everyone is eating it up... its fricking weeeeaaak. theres just so much about it that does not come together as a story.
yo jonah. i heard u like to be emo, so we wrote you a flash game about being depressed, so you can cry about the shitty life you are pretending to live while you cry about really having a shitty life.
