sorry, I don't mean to be a nuisance. Just trying to find out a little bit about sockets or PHP. I tried kirupa.com and actionscript.org but most of the tutorials are using MySQL. Sorry if I'm bothering anyone.

Does anyone know how the connection in this game was achieved, or can post a link to a website that has a tutorial using the same method as this game. I am trying to find out how to make real time connections, and this one works perfectly, even on my dial up. Thanks in advance.

BattleStar 3.0 is officially released. Please, take your ratings over and get it rated higher. Nothing has been changed, and two new modes of play have been added, yet it is rated much lower. Please, if you like BattleStar 2.0, visit 3.0 and rate it at least the same as BattleStar 2.0. The only changes have been a temporary fix for collision detection between ships, and the green ship now uses ?/ instead of SHIFT to fire. This fixes the sticky key problem many people had. Thank you all for your support.

By the way, I found a bug that you may or may not have noticed, and I will fix it soon. The instructions list the SHIFT Key as the firing button, when in reality it is the ?/ key. Sorry if this has been confusing anyone. I'll fix it at once.

Updated BattleStar 3.0 uses ?/ instead of shift and has a temporary fix for the high scores. Please tell me if you find any bugs.

Thank you all for your comments! I will definitely change the shift key, and though it will probably take a day or two, expect to see at least some kind of fix for the top-score bug. I am having trouble importing from kongregate, so I'll probably just show the top score gotten on your computer. I was not aware of the bug Jebula refers to with text, could someone please add some more details so I can pinpoint it, please. I will also give some thought to the backround, but that won't be changed until at least Monday. At the very least, the Shift key will be changed tonight. Thank you all so much for your comments.

In clarification, every high score gets sent up, but the fixed BattleStar 3.0 will only DISPLAY the highest score. Thank you!

A word about high scores - Due to a malfunction on my part, the highest score does not display when you finish a one or two player team game. I'll work to fix this. Only ONE High score is calculated. You must be the best to place. Good luck!

I have been getting a lot of feedback about adding a realtime multiplayer feature, and it is definately something I will be looking into. BattleStar is not intended to be a singleplayer game however. I have always wanted it to be a game that is played by two people at the same time at the same computer. For BattleStar 3, I have added a singleplayer option, but it was something I was not eager to do. I do, however, understand that nobody probably goes on this site when they have friends over, and I am planning on adding a realtime feature for future versions. Thank you for your comment and honesty, I hope you will soon be able to look at future versions and tell me if or how they have improved.
